Weird how someone has found a one and a half year old thread... interesting all the same... it's kinda like a "SS'ers where are they now?" |

All done in poor lighting conditions ( you know for effect!!!). Just kidding. However I'm guilty of sending in a picture of a dead squirrel. It even sold serval times( I,d like to see what those were used for).Tough job to be objective looking though that sea of hopeful submitions. All I can say is their doing a great job ( the reviewers). I appreciate the oportunity to be represented by this site. |
A good seller for me is a pile of fresh horse pucky--no kidding! A concept shot (grins) |

If your struggling with this thread, look at it like this. Music, in its simplest form, has notes marked only as A,B,C,D,E,F & G. You can add a few sharps and flats for flavor, but to be honest that's all you have to choose from. However, in which order you put those notes and with how much feeling (that's called art) is the difference between rubbish, mediocre, brilliant and genius.
Photography has even less letters to play with. C,L,E,M; Composition, Lighting, Exposure & Moment.
Some of these can be tweaked at post processing (just like music production), but by keeping it simple and thinking of C.L.E.M, then even a strawberry, some money or a USB thingy can get good, even genius, results.
P.S Respect to reviewers. I bet they really do see some R.U.B.B.I.S.H. Incuding some of mine. |

Right, respect the microstock reviewers. The garbage men of photography with the notable difference that reviewers have to go through the trash and retrieve the images that can still be used. |

My husband is a truck driver. You want to talk about boring and underpay? Over-the-road drivers do not get paid for sitting at docks. We've spent upwards of 8 hours a time on occasion for no good reason. The average is probably 2 to 3 hours each time they back a trailer up to a dock. Team drivers run against the clock across country with just enough time to fuel and grab a sandwich. Been there and done that. I used to team with him.
Wanna talk boring? Try driving across the U.S. on I-70 across Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri and Kansas. Nudes, yeah, those can be pretty disgusting. One time a BIG FAT gal in Wyoming dropped her clothes down around her ankles while trying to hitch a ride. Another time a equally fat gal had her cheeks facing the road while she pooped. I don't know who has it worse. A reviewer or a truck driver. |

This is what my parents do for a living,(my mom can back up better than anyone I know W/ A PUP_TRAILER!! It's pretty hot. :P) Maxi flat-beds out of Kalispell Montana. As a child, I spent my summers in a sleeper seeing the entire U.S.A. and hiding from DOT at weigh stations. :) It's weird finding that how somehow we all connect.
My parents have stickers on all of their trucks of a lizard w/ a cirle around it and a cross through it (kinda like the no smoking sign) ~No Lot Lizards~ I'm sure your one of the few people who knows what this means. :) Funny.

Oh yes, I've definitely heard of lot lizards. Had a few knock on the doors of the truck on occasion, but they were never too much of a problem for us. Probaby because we were a couple.

While I can understand his complaints about bad photography and the keywords, and I'm sure it gets boring looking at the same types of photos over and over again, that is his job. The stock sites recommend looking at the bestsellers to guide you, so if he's seen a thousand lonesome trees, or millions of cds and keyboards, that's because it is what is selling. It is called STOCK photography. A lot of the pictures are going to have mundane and utilitarian subjects. Sounds like he needs a new job. |
