Coming back we were going 80 or so in arizona and some idiot decided to cross the highway. swerving in a hummer at 80 wasn't pleasant. Dave did his cop maneuver, everything and everyone went flying. Glad he was driving.

Hey that was fun! Brought me back to the good ole days on the job :)

Right after that happened and while we were cleaning up what was spilled Dave said that if that would have happened when he was on the Police force the driver of the other car would be getting a guided tour of the jail.
Thanks Dave, that was good driving!

Thanks Mike. I think people would be surprised to find out how much time we had to spend on pursuit and defensive driving. I probably went to 10 different specialty driving training session during my career.

One of the most fun was held at the Rantoul Air Force base in Illinois. Panic turns, J-Turns, reverse 360s, doing 80 and hitting an oil slick runway and making sure we controlled the rotations of the squad, all kinds of stuff. Ahhh, the good ole days! :)

Often times stopping is not what you should do when faced with a critical time driving. Steering and acceleration are sometimes your best friend (if you know what you are doing and only use it when called for).

Couldn't agree more. Can't argue with physics.

I had to go back 4-5 pages to see all of the pictures and read everything because I have been off the thread for a while. Sorry about that! I am in awe of the star trail images that everyone has gotten, and I love the video Laurin!! Katrina...WOW!!! Your images are breathtaking as always! Jane, I am glad to see your shots were accepted. They are beautiful! I have not been working on images recently, but as soon as I can work on more I will post them here. The dizziness never went away (it actually got worse) when I got home so I am going in for an MRI today to try to figure out wth is going on. Hopefully when all is cleared up I can sit at the computer for more then 10 minutes at a time :D

Miss all of you!!
