I'm not sure about the fire in boulder I'm away at the moment from the computer and can't look it up. The one here is 6200 acres and 32,000 have been evacuated. I'm on my phone and it sucks to type.

6200 acres is about 10 square miles and that's a LOT of ground to cover when you're battling flames in those conditions. You really need a lot of rain to help with slowing it down.

maybe we all need to do a collective rain dance for fire relief!

Morning all.

It is Wednesday and the middle of the week.

Sold a Christmas pic today so perhaps that is going to start picking up?

Gonna call and see about shooting a car show today it is called the "Corvettes for the Vets" and will be the second annual show done at the Williamsburg winery.

Hello people.

They've recovered one body from the mall collapse so far, still waiting to hear who it was. There's been a man there waiting to hear if his fiance is still alive. :(

Damn Kelly I hope he finds her :(

There are supposed to be some chances for rain in the next 2 days today and tomorrow 20% chance for both days. Both in the afternoon and wind as well. It's now at 15,000 acres as of this morning and there pre-evacuating southwest Douglas county which is to the north of us.

:( "Denver sizzled to at least 100 for the 5th consecutive day Wednesday, tying the longest such stretch on record. During the final two days of that stretch, it reached 105 - tying its highest temperature ever measured. In Colorado Springs, the mercury hit at least 100 on two straight days (June 23 and 24) for only the second time since records have been kept."

"The blaze doubled in size overnight to about 24 square miles, fire information officer Rob Dyerberg said...

Kathleen Tillman told The Denver Post. “You are driving through smoke. It is completely pitch black, and there is tons of ash dropping on the road.”

Colorado Springs Fire Chief Richard Brown echoed her sentiment, saying, “This is a firestorm of epic proportions.”

Thunderstorms are expected near the blaze in the afternoon, but incident commander Rich Harvey says they could bring unpredictable winds that would hinder firefighters’ efforts near the city of 419,000 people.

The fire is about 5 percent contained, Harvey said.

Throughout the interior West, firefighters have toiled for days in searing, record-setting heat against fires fueled by prolonged drought. Most, if not all, of Utah, Colorado, Wyoming and Montana were under red flag warnings, meaning extreme fire danger."

Kel - argh - what a wait for that guy! :(

Anita - now it's time to hoe for that rain to come true and the wind not to blow from that direction!!!

We're expecting to get another 105F day here, and add to that the humidity for the heat index.

We're in the 90s the rest of the week. If there is a t-storm in the springs I seriously hope that the winds won't pick up to the epic proportions they have a tendancy to do. The smoke and haze is as far as the eye can see out here east of the springs

Got my first OD at the new rate which is nice. Not so nice only 2 dls for the day.

I feel for you Anita, I don't do well in heavy smoke. I wish it would cool way down and rain. Breaks my heart to see the destruction in the drought and heat ridden states this year.

The house I live in now has been through two intense fire storms. The first one burned down 80 houses in my neighborhood and 8 houses on my street. I left when most of them were on fire and it is hard to fathom the wind they create... I will never forget how it looked/felt and how my neighbors looked when they returned to find their homes, cars, etc. completely burned to the ground. It is hard to imagine that cars, refrigerators etc just vanish... with nothing left in their place but a pile of ash.

It breaks my heart to see images like this in your foothills... and it looks like it is threatening the garden of the gods... the flying W ranch burned to the ground last night and I heard firemen mentioning them during the video feed last night.

That's the Mountain Shadows area. Most of those houses are gone. The people that have owned and operated the Flying W Ranch for I believe 30 years stated last night that they will rebuild once this fire is out. That was a shame though. We drove through that area about a year ago lots of trees and rustic buildings. That whole area won't be the same for years :(

That's terrible Kelly. Have they figured out what caused the collapse of the mall yet?
