Yeah, talk about oil and water not mixing, the UH solar observatory on the local volcano, after some renovation and an addition, was Blessed by a local Kahuna.
But if the priest or local bishop can bless the fishing fleet in Italy, why not?
Seems like this is going back to Shinto and other animalistic beliefs of a separate god (or Higgs Boson)residing in everything. |

A) There is only one God "particle" but has three parts: God, Jesus, and Holy Spirit.
B) Yes, but this one is much less complex.
C) You go to hell.... LOL! |

Not surprising. They don't even like their own created terms. First they loved "GLOBAL WARMING," but it bit them in the butt so they changed it to"CLIMATE CHANGE."
Gotta love those scientists... |

They havent seen it yet, they will officially make a statement tomorrow, but they have 'seen the shadow'. Now they need to get a look the actual thing, but you can pretty much bet on it they will show the particle at some point.
And now I will go to hell for blasphemy |

Yes, acknowledging that the Higgs boson exists is just as heretical as saying that the Earth revolves around the sun. Just you wait till The Inquisition gets ahold of you. |

I thought my neighbor discovered it a couple of weeks ago the way she kept yelling "Oh God, Of God...." |

I keep a handful of Higgs Boson particles in a jar, by spinning it around quite fast, I'm able to see them. Great fun. I might sell them on ebay, £10 per jar. I wonder if I'll get any buyers. If they return saying it doesn't work, I'll tell them they can't have been spinning it fast enough.
Good exercise too. I own the copyright for this idea! You know, I bet someone somewhere would buy a jar of air, with the words, 'contains Higgs Boson particles. Spin fast to see', written on it.
I'm wondering if there are more Higgs Boson particles in people as they get older, some do seem to get more mass as they age.
(This is a joke by the way, in case the science pedants tell me it doesn't work that way).

The higgs boson goes into a church
the priest asks,"what are you doing here?"
the boson says "you cant have a mass without me."
The discovery of the higgs boson does not prove that there is no god,but it proves that we and our planet exist without the need for a god |

Funny. I always wonder why all those believers battle each other. Okay, the naming was plain stupid, that might be the major problem.
Apart from that, as a science teacher, I can assure you that making a statement about the existence of (a) God is simply un-scientific, should not be done, cannot be done and cannot be argued about. Science KNOWS that it can't make this statement because its tools are not able to make the statement by definition. Belief is an entirely personal matter.
That's what I teach to my students and pupils: We do not mention it because we CAN'T! And we don't WANT to! Just for these few lessons per week, they need to listen to what science found out and proved (!) with its tools. Evolution is one example. The Higgs Boson is another. Both do not deny God or even make a statement about her existence.
If the creationists realized that and educated themselves instead of repeating what some ass told them they wouldn't feel so ridiculously attacked all the time and everybody would get along just fine. Show me the creationist who can really tell you how evolution is presumed to work. 99% didn't read anything about the theory themselves and therefore don't realize that not one single serious scientific work in this field makes a statement about the existence of (a) God or her influence on evolution. Wake up guys! Science doesn't hurt you! When I hear American presidents (a.k.a. world rulers, imagine that!) or other public figures blather about this stuff I regularly need to throw up. If people knew how badly educated their idols are (I teach this to 12-year-olds) they would cringe in agony.
Best regards,

Actually, Christian, it does hurt them because while it cannot prove or disprove the existence of any particular god it does do a pretty good job of demonstrating a) that belief in god is completely unnecessary and b) that a load of stuff in their holy, never to be questioned, texts is complete rubbish. |

Hm, I don't know... That might apply for the radical people, but to call belief unnecessary does not honor the human and psychological side of a need to believe.
About the texts: Is it rubbish when people 2000 years ago tried to explain the world as good as they were able to? Our job today would be to honor these texts for what they MIGHT be for SOME people: Allegories or parables that can be extrapolated to today's human condition and therefore MIGHT help to get along more easily. Whoever takes them literally - again - is too uneducated for real life in the 21st century. Not even hardcore theologists of the Roman Catholic Church take them literally any more...
Best regards,
Christian |
