Not sure if you got this problem fully resolved, but I was in my local photo store looking at 60Ds and 7Ds, and I brought this concern up with him. He said he's been shooting the 7D professionally for about 2 years now, and when he first received his, he had a similar problem. He said he had the techs in his store do a lens calibration and now its tack sharp. He said you could send it to Canon and have them do it for a few hundred dollars and be out a camera a few weeks, or they did it in store for $25. He said most photo stores that repair Canon's can do it.. Maybe take it in to your local store...
