The moment--& I mean the moment someone tells me I can't use this because it's a registered trademark of the National Socialist Worker's Party I'm storming out, selling my cameras for Everclear & spending the remainder of my golden years in an alcoholic stupor.
That's a promise!

Ps: This comes from Bulgaria, & was sent me by my son's then girlfriend during her travels. The dried blood on the edges is quite real:-)

I advise against such a submission.

Maybe not, but there are quite few Nazi-related images on SS (and I mean Shutterstock, not that other SS). Everything from postage stamps to old propaganda pamphlets to live re-enactments.
Whether or not it meets technical requirements or has commercial value, I can't say.

I wouldn't wanna make a dime with this shit and neither should anybody else on this planet. Sorry.
How come? Might be my country's history, but even apart from that it's tasteless in my opinion.

I agree with you, personally, and completely understand your point of view. But everyone's entitled to their own feelings and beliefs, and in this case, Shutterstock has the final say.
There can be legitimate uses for these types of things -- history books, documentaries, editorials, etc.

I know and I agree. But even if it's unique and, ahem," original" considering the coverage of the subject on SS - it can much more easily be misused than most other topics. That's why I would refrain from it. But as I said: Just an advice...

I understand your reservations, C. If you look at my surname you'll see I'm no fan of National Socialism, but this image of a bloody, dirty, degraded symbol doesn't exactly glorify nazis.
We can't very well boycott their symbols without putting a significant part of the world's history, horrific though it may be, at risk of being forgotten.

Again, I agree in principle. But this is a commercial site. Selling photos for almost no money is as commercial as it can get, and for me that's just not the right environment for remembrance or keeping the memory of the victims. But again, that's just me. No need to argue. But I HAD to comment on this.

Actually, the symbol had meaning long before it was tainted/corrupted by the Nazis. Still does in some areas.

I think when photographers start to use their concious, we wouldnt have many of the great photos that are out there. Is not the job of the photographer to show the world what is out there? We let others decide what to think of it.
Although I am fully against any form of Nazism, I do believe that submitting a photo of a coin or whatever it is, showing a Swastika is not tasteless. Like someone here said, it might be used for educational purposes, or for historic purposes.
But then again, I do understand why people would be against submitting this photo.
