No Candy, Susan does not hunt that is why she is coming down for one week of the 4 :-)

And yes I will be hunting Red Deer, fallow deer, and possibly Sika deer, maybe even a Chamois, wild goat, rabbit and Australian possum, all of which are non indigenous species.

But how lovely she will be down there for part of the time.

Are you able to bring all the meat home? (not sure I'd bother bringing possum home---LOL)

No meat, I leave it with my Kiwi mates, but eat a lot of it while I am there:-)

Enjoy the non-indigienous venison, et al., with yer mates, and don't forget to peruse that new, well-protected lens out there in the outback! (is it still the outback in New Zealand?).

Have a fabulous time, Jeff!

"Outback" is Australia. That's the little island out to the west of NZ. :-p

Thanks for the clarification. I didn't write that well the first time. I know Australia is the Outback and that we have a restaurant chain called the Outback Steakhouse that serves huge proportions, but I wasn't sure if New Zealand was fell under the Outback label ;-) It's all Down Under from my perspective.

Yep, it's all Down Under. In NZ we have The Bush. So you go bush for the weekend. Or go hunting in the bush.
"The Bush" is not singular as there are more than a few bushes that make up The Bush.

It's always trout season. However, the authorities get upset if you shoot them with a rifle. Can't imagine why. :-p

Ok, so NZ is where The Bush is........I had assumed, again, Australia. I really should travel abroad more. Here in Oregon when we hear someone say they are going to the "beach," we pretty much know they are from California, for here we call it the "coast." It's those little things that can give away our ignorance of a locale ;-)

I think Australia also has The Bush, but in their case, it is more of a singular given the deserty (rather than desserty) nature of the Outback.

Na, we don't shoot the trout, simply toss in a stick of dynamite, and use a net LOL.
Reminds me, you have to take the local conservation officer (warden in the US), out in the boat with you, light the dynamite, and when he says you can't catch fish that way hand him the lit dynamite, and watch as he throws it in the lake :-)

BTW, I am shooting both camera and rifle!
