I haven't had any trouble getting train shots approved so far, as long as any identifying logos, engine numbers, etc. are removed. Otherwise, it has to be Editorial, (and we know how dicey that can be!).

I like the effect of the curving trains under the curving roof, but the pillars and stuff on the left is distracting. Cropping it like below would help. Also brings the nearer train a bit closer, although I find myself wishing it were still closer. More dramatic if it looms larger. I might even try lightening the roof a bit more and darkening other areas to make it more dramatic.

Thank you for taking the time to show me how to improve the composition, I really appreciate it.

Agree with ken. I did a little adj for drama and the rule of thirds "Mystery Train" LOL just as an example of composition. I also think the copyright issue and focus would have got ya. I made the tracks bend a bit more also to dissect the corner.Keep shooting.

Oh, also there are recognizable people in the background.

I thought I wasn't too bad at photography, I can see I've more to learn than I thought. Thanks for lesson!

Stock is a whole different animal. It is where the technical aspects of photography come into play. It is no longer good enough to just have a nice looking shot, it has to technically right on the money as well.

Don't worry though, everyone who goes into stock goes through this process. Think of it this way, you will learn to be an even better photographer by learning stock. Good luck and we are here to help if you need it.
