Hello everyone,

I need some help in writing ED Caption more newsworthy.
I have submitted 2 ED images that were criticized as:

Caption not newsworthy Please provide a newsworthy (verifiable news facts) statement or fact in your editorial caption for this image.

The first one I wrote: NAKHONSAWAN, NORTHERN/ THAILAND-MARCH 8: Buddha images and venerable monks statues in Kiriwong Temple on March 8, 2012 in Nakhonsawan.

And the second: LADAKH,JAMMU AND KASHMIR/INDIA-JULY 12: A Tibetan shooting handmade bow and arrow on July 12,2011 in Ladakh. Shooting bow and arrow is the Tibetan tribe traditional game.

I can’t make them “more newsworthy”.
Thank you in advance for your helping.

Regards,
Panithan

The "venerable monks," are dead and embalmed monks according to the ancient Tibetan tradition?
If so should really be news, because it's a rare thing to see.
Perhaps the examiner does not know this.
It 's my opinion.

I think they need a newsworthy "action" added.

NAKHONSAWAN, NORTHERN THAILAND-MARCH 8: Buddha images and venerable monks statues are now on display on March 8, 2012 in Nakhonsawan.

LADAKH, KASHMIR/INDIA-JULY 12: A Tibetan man demonstrating a handmade bow and arrow on July 12, 2011 in Ladakh. Archery is a traditional Tibetan tribal game.

Thank you very much, mauijon.

I will try sending them to SS editors.

I have tried sending as your suggestion, the second one was accepted.

However, It's amused that the first image was reply from INSPECTOR that:Not Approved:
This is not an editorial/news image

At first I think it's not ED image, because I always submit the images like this as RF. However, the first INSPECTOR tell me that it's ED image, but the second INSPECTOR had opposite opinion that it's not ED image.

I'm puzzle that why the two INSPECTORS OF SS have opposite opinion like this in the main type of image, which should be the same standard.

Where is the standardization?

Who can explain these for me?

Thank you.

The explanation is simple. The review process deals with humans and although they have guidelines in place no two people will come to the same conclusion 100% of the time.

People see things differently and you are dealing with an area that deals with interpretation and not a formalize statement of facts. It's been that way from the beginning and will stay that way probably forever. That is why stock is so great for teaching us how to just deal with it :)

Thanks hhltdave5.

But ED images or not should be principal, really?
it should be the same or nearly, not opposite
like this.

These events occur to me frequently. I'm so puzzle.
