If you dont show too much of the zoo in the photo, and its just the animal, you might get away with it.

Thank you.
How about this one?
It's a glass abstract.

It has to be something Buyers can use to help sell a product or service. This has no correlation to that use.

One of the things we like to have newbies do is ask yourself how can the image be used to complement or support one of the following
A product
A service
A process
A concept
A perfect example of a subject

If you cannot think of several ways to use a image, what hope does a buyer have of seeing one use for it.
So, now looking at your glass abtract, some of us are wondering what the heck it is? This alone stops anyone wondering how can I use it. Images must tell a story, or create an emotion within the viewer, images that tell a story are big sellers.
Ask yourself how many buyers are going to search for an image of a glass abstract!
On the other hand, you were on the right track with food shots as they can be used in many way if styled correctly, I am sure you noticed the difference between yours and Dave's.
Here is a couple of simple food dishes that you can try. Remeber to get shots from several angles, tight shots, and wide shots, low angle and high, compare them and see which look the more desirable. Food shots must evoke, make you hungry to try them, if they do that the image will get used.

Thank you all for your feedback.
That is true, I'll try harder to think on the stock aspect before it's creativity.
Here's the next one.

The isolation doesn't work it needs to be 100% perfect.

Here it is done with PS.

Laurin is right but you are not alone. Many new comers to stock think they need to be real cutesie and come up a new and different way of shooting certain items. This is a good idea but most of the time they come up with things that were done over and over again many years ago.

Some examples are coffee beans arranged to look like a coffee cup, taking hot peppers and spelling out the word hot, peanuts in the shape of a peanut and so on.

Want to do a peanut shot? Get yourself a nice container that people would put peanuts in or just use the glass container they came in. Spill some of the out onto a surface such as a cutting board etc and shoot it that way.

Here is what I mean. These are a couple of shots of mine where I did this using different foods. Just substitute peanuts for what you see here.

These are just two example of what you can do. This is not rocket science it is creating an image in a way that will help people buy what you are showing them.

While the cutesie stuff can sell if they are not done well they can just sit there. Remember that people like to see things in the way they would see them in their life and how it can be put to use in the real world.
