Greetings Shutterstock team
Today I discovered the at least 5 of my images were dropped, or better to say bugged, in popular search
with this particular image: Image ID: 100491691
I had regular sales and now it's on the last page, below all of my images I never sold. And it was one of my most popular files. It's not the only image that's bugged but this one most affect my sales.
Please, take a look at this bug, and just to note, I do understand how popular search works, but I've never saw that image with no sales is in better place compared to images with almost daily sales
Thanks for your time |

Am I the only one who experience this? People should check their most popular portfolio. |

No, your not the only one, I just noticed I have had 4 images on the first page of most popular Statue of liberty page for over a year and now they don't even show up in any of the pages, They have dissapeared. |

People should check their own galleries also, so it's possible to compare with your other images. Few very popular images dropped below all of my non-sellers, and with "none-sellers" i mean picture that have never sold
this never happen before
and, sorry for my English aswell |

Same here, popular search totally messed up: some non-sellers on the first page and good sellers on the last. |

Yesterday I had my all time low selling weekday since for the last three years. Today might turn out the same. Oops |

I was totally confused, first not a single sale yet in June then a bunch of pictures in my popular search that as far as I know have no sales. Mind you I was hoping that it was the sales that were screwed up. I was just building a bit of momentum and consistency in downloads and POOF!
Hmmmm, just noticed relevant and popular are the same... |

I don't know if sales play such a big part in the "popular" calculation anymore and I think the number of views (which we don't get to see) might play a bigger part now?
Clearly the "popular" can not be based on sales alone. |

@cpaulfell I don't know about the views vs sales in terms of popular calculations, did we get some official news about that?
@kellythorson, yes, relevant and popular were the same in my portfolio too until yesterday, but I still believe it's something messed up there.
now it's not only one image, most of my non sellers are in "better" place then my sellers, and that cannot be right. It' looks more like "random" then "popular" order now. :( |

SS has said in the past that the search is not based on views but is some function of sales and time on line. So an image which has few sales but has only been online a few days can appear above an image with lots of sales that has been online for a long time.

Yes, I think it's still like that. Did you notice something strange with your gallery when sorted by popular search?
I never seen old files with 0 sales in front of newer file with several sales until few days ago. And it also affects searches. I tried to find my file (it was on first page when only vector selected) and now I cannot find it in first 20 or more pages.
Of course my sales are down because of that, at least for bugged files. Other images keep going up. |

How can my images go from being on the first page of the search for a year and selling almost every day to being missing from any page of that search? is that normal? it is a first for me since I have been here. |

The popular search is completely messed up. I have new images, that haven't yet sold, further back in the search than old images that have never sold. I have vectors that have sold many times sitting next the the raster version that has only sold once or twice.
For anyone who submits both vectors and rasters of the same image, it is very easy to see the problem within the portfolio. I have 23 pages and, by about page 5, vectors and rasters are sitting next to each other in the popular search. With one or two notable exceptions, vector files for me outsell the rasters by about 5 to 1, so there is no way that they should be next to each other in a popular search.
On my first page, I have two images that were recently uploaded on the same day, one has sold once and the other has sold four times but, the image with only one sale is ahead in the popular ranking.
I had four images approved overnight and apparently, they are the four least popular images in my portfolio, occupying places 2230,2231,2232 & 2233 of 2233 images No wonder new images just aren't selling.
Shutterstock - please fix this, as you are having a detrimental effect on our livelihoods. |
