Just saw today that the most popular for my photos in the statue of liberty catagory are back to allmost normal, they lost a little ground after 10 days of just being missing from the catagory, at least there back with the other 80% that were missing for the last 10 days.

Got the same problem. Many of the pictures on my first page have 0 sales and some of them are really old.
And sales in this month have really gone down. Only one sale on demands for whole June! Usually I have at least several a day!
SS, please, fix this!

Same here, many of my most popular images were just pushed way way back!

I have been watching an image of mine climb up the vector category and reaching Page 6 when searched by most popular.

Sales have been so good on this image that 1 have checked each day, for the last few weeks, starting from page one. As a result, the most popular vectors have become quite familiar.

Today, page one bears no resemblance to anything that I have seen for the last few weeks. Everything has changed and all the top images have completely disappeared. What is going on???

Hello,

We recently announced some improvements to our search algorithm and infrastructure. We fixed a glitch that caused some images to temporarily not appear in search results. We also improved the reliability of the “New” sort order. We tested these improvements with customers and the results have been very positive.

We’ll be testing an additional improvement next week. Our “New” sort order will display more accurate and relevant results. In some instances, a more accurate search result will take slight precedence over upload date, but the search experience for customers will be greatly improved. As a result, it will be less likely to find irrelevant images under the “New” sort order, but applying accurate metadata to your images remains critical.

It is important to note that the core principles driving our algorithms are not changing. These optimizations will create an improved balance of accuracy and freshness and we want to keep you informed as we conduct testing and make updates.

Best Regards,

I'm talking about popular, not new sort order.

Dear Shutterstock, please can you give us some insight into how the new 'popular' search is actually working?

Yesterday, my 8th most popular vector was on page 14 in the Vector category when searched by 'popular', (vectors 1-7 were nowhere to be seen).

Today, my 9th most popular vector is on page 10 and the one that was on page 14 yesterday is not even in the top 50 pages. Does an image lose popularity that quickly these days?

Logically, if my 9th most popular vector occupies a place on page 10, then shouldn't my vectors that are more popular than this be higher in the search??

My portfolio looks completely messed up on the popular search, with images that have never sold being more popular than images that sell well.

I don't get it - everything looks completely random and is fluctuating wildly. Is it really meant to be working like this?

The 'popular' search is now riddled with 2012 & 2012 images that were popular before last New Year and the year before!. If I was a buyer I don't think these images would be what I would be wanting - they are pretty out of date.

Just looking at my portfolio in "most popular" mode shows things to be screwed up. Old images that have never sold near the front. Images with recent sales on the last page. New images just accepted and yet to sell somewhere in the middle. Instead of "popular mode" they should call it "random mode."

Same for me. I have good sellers on page 42 of my gallery and images that have never sold on page 1.
