Hey Guys
What do you think about the Nikon J1 or V1 as an entry level SLR, no body seems to mention it anywhere. Did any of the Pro's got a chance to try it out? |

Yes. I played with both. The JI is kinda like a nice toy. The V1 is actually something I would own and I would get the FT1 adapter to use all my nikon Glass. at a 2.7 times crop factor. That brings Macro and tele. into another world.also 60FPS is quite astonishing. Great little video camera also 30FPS .MOV H.264 Perfect for stock footage on a budget. $800.00 isn't bad at all for what this does. One drawback is a Micro 4/3 sensor, 10 MP. I didn't look at any Images, I just played with it in the store.Quite amazing really . I can't recommend it for stock until I shot it and looked at the results. But Youtube has lots of stuff on it.I do think in the right hands It might work well for those on a budget. Many Big Boy features. |

Nice review.Another fun thing is.#1 putting a macro on with the adapter and, Ext tubes would make for some interesting shots. AND.... with the adapter putting a 200 on with a 1.7 TCE and 2.7 times crop factor. you have 750MM Plus. |

And they don't give you many lens choices. Like three. If they had some good lens choices, I could see it as a possibility. Maybe they will have an adapter since they don't have to worry about the mirror getting in the way or whatever the issue is with adapters for Nikon DSLRs.
I've read that they autofocus extremely fast and accurately. Could be good for action shots, especially considering that extra magnification. |

Top end video at hundreds of frames per second? It's not what I would call top end. It's 640 x 240 at 400 fps or 320 x 120 at 1,200 fps. |

top end in that price range as compared to 10K/20K for pro gear that can shoot that frame rate.Might be a fun Little camera. I've seen the full rez 1080 stuff at 30. Looks fairly clean.I think it's a big leap and answers the OP's question about cost and efficiency. The mirrorless stuff is getting Better and better. If I wanted to get my wife a nice gift. I'd go with this one. Till next week when something better comes out. LOL |
