I'm sure the bitrate/codec questions have been asked a lot.

I'd like to get some feedback on how you guys look at things to make decisions on encoding given that it's a set of trade-offs. We all like to profess "the ultimate" quality in our uploads, but for the majority of us, HDD space isn't unlimited, and neither is upload speed. We each have to find our balance.

please comment.

It really is pretty easy in Stock video. If you shoot Progressive then save in PJGEG at 90-94 quality. If shooting Interlaced then save in MJPEG same quality. At this time all agencies accept Quicktime .MOV so stick with that.
A 1080 HD 15-20 seconds long will be about 300-600 Mb in size. No real way around it if you want to submit to multiple agencies. h.264 is much smaller but not accepted everywhere.
Good luck.
