Please learn first how to post properly so that we don't need to click "download". 500 px on the longest side.

As for your images, all of them have underexposed areas. SS likes bright clean and clear images. Search for what is already online. Compare to yours.

They all seem a bit dark to me, especially the one with the people hiking. They are all in shadow and hard to see.

I think the colors in the hiking shot are great but you need to brighten the people a fair bit. You'll have to check whether there's enough latitude in the original to lift the figures without introducing too much noise

Next fall try to reshoot this one, it could be nice. Notice that I cropped the top, I did this so we would just see the color in the forest and not the far hillside. When shooting deep in the forest like this try to keep the sky or brightly light hillsides out of the composition. Also if you reshoot just have 1 person and position them at the highest point of the path. Use a trim and fit person, no back-pack, water bottle, etc. and especially not carrying something like the man in red. A red shirt or a red coat would be nice. Maybe get a little closer, like next to the 2 foreground trees. Try different exposures, open up 1/3, 1/2, 2/3 and 1 stop then see which works best on the computer, not the back of the camera.

Until Mike can get back, I'll throw in my guess: saleability. Nobody selling something like physical fitness, sports stuff, or even a natural location is going to use 3 nondescript looking people in their ad. They'll want someone fit and trim, to give the illusion that if you use their product or visit their location, you'll be like that. (Ever see normal-looking people in a resort brochure?)

And at the top of the path? Hmm. Putting him or her there would carry the idea of forging into new territory, being on the edge of new things, looking ahead. Something like that. (Am I anywhere close, Mike?)

Very good Ken! I could not have said it as good. Also back-pack, water bottle, etc. have logo's to worry about and since fashions are always changing, they date the picture. A red or yellow shirt or jacket will help the person to stand out. I did not specify yellow originally because there is already a lot of yellow in the picture.

I wanted to talk about the other 2 pictures but I had to go to class but now I'm back. The 2 lakeside pictures are about as evenly light as you can get, so I guess you will have to go with poor of incorrect white balance. Both have detail in the clouds and in the darkest part so I don't understand poor lighting either. Did you shoot RAW? If you did change the color balance and see if they look any better.

All that being said both are rather dull and that is because you shot on a dull overcast day. When you get one of these days try to keep the sky out of the composition. This will allow your meter to meter only the fall colors and you will get a better exposure.

These 2 were both shot on overcast days, just before it rained.

I think you guys would be surprised. I think normal people can sell and they are actually preferred by a lot of buyers.

These sold today:

And zero sales on this one:

Just my opinion. Telling a story and delivering some kind of emotional impact goes a long way where perfect models alone won't take you.
