I dont understand the whole tax thing? How are we supposed to pay them, do we have to do anything or are they taken out of our check automatically?

Hi Grace,

Which country do you live in?
Going by your name I assume in the UK somewhere? If so, UK and USA have a tax treaty which basically means you tell SS you live in UK and pay taxes here and SS pay you full amount earned and you pay income tax in UK as with any other earnings in UK. It is your responsibility to inform HMRC of the income.

SS have forms online to complete detailing everything so it is relatively simple.

The exchange rate is a b!tch though!!!

Hi,

I didn't fill out the form for a few years. Will I get the amount withheld retroactively? I’m from Canada.

Thanks!
