I don't know... I would remove these black spots in bottom right corner and these things on the left attracts my attention too much. From what Laurin said, I have a feeling that it might be risky to put it for first ten. Reviewers are very picky now. Maybe later, once you get approved.

I'm probably better off passing on this image then. There really isn't anything so special about it anyway. But, I'm glad I'm finally getting a few focused shots.

Save all images for when you are accepted and then submit them. There are no penalties at SS for rejected photos.

There are other issues.. Now that you have focus issues under control better. lets look at composition the OOF Rattler is quite distracting and doesn't belong in the frame.. use your eyes and see that the shirt has a much higher value than the face. with digital we don't have much Latitude and ya have to really watch that and set a balance with the light. You are the first one in a long time that used the term "Planes of focus" and you were correct. Thats what it's all about. You've come a long ways in a few days, Lets work on exposure a bit.Heres a few Kids I've done. I knoew yours is younger but, I want you to setup some things instead of sleeping shots. Those are to easy. there looking for more. You can do this. Shooting kids and babies is all about anticipation of movement and being ready. Good job and progress so far.

The first one far outsold the other 2.

I'm hoping you can help me understand what I did wrong in the shot. I know it's out of focus, but its a bit strange because it seems that his hair (behind the focal point plane) is infocus and then areas infront are in focus, but not his eyes. This was shot at 93mm, F8 from about 6 feet away - so I should have had at least 6 inches DOF. I was also trying to "cheat the shot" by keeping the ball and his hands in focus. Are his eyes not in focus because of motion possibly? My shutter speed was 1/400. Oh, this was also Auto Focus. Thanks

Rinder, wow the first shot is just breath taking and it looks like your DOF is only 1 to 2 inches. I assume there was no PP blur on that, or am I wrong? I suppose thats where anticipating movement comes into play. I'm listening, and I also appreciate the encouragement so much. My little guy can't sit up yet, but I will try laying him on his belly, on the floor for a few. You are so right about sleeping photos being easy... suppose thats why I started with them.

Noise is killing you and ruining your detail. You're shooting at ISO 800. Need to shoot at 100, 400 at the most if you're doing action and there's no way around it. Stationary shot like that, you can shoot at lower ISO. Don't need to go all the way to F8. You can go down to 5.6.

Composition isn't working either. Need him looking your direction for this shot because he's sitting that way. You got him looking right out of the frame.

Also, can't use that soccer ball because of trademark. They reject every soccer ball that isn't the traditional black and white.

Rob is correct the noise is tearing apart the detail. And the B&W Baby shot is indeed PP. Forcing the DOF.Call me Laurin. The general rule is to never have someone looking out of the frame. Thats Composition 101. if he is then you need space for him to look.Or as well call it in stock...."Copy space".as in this Pic.See my shot. the kid is smiling at a Imaginary Product or message to be inserted by a buyer.Sold very well.

Thank you! I will keep the ISO below 400. For the shot with the soccer ball I do have extra "copy space" in the original - but I just needed to nail down the source of what was causing it to not be sharp. Perhaps another day, lower ISO and a traditional ball.
And, Just for you Rinder, I took a few of my little guy not sleeping. He hates being on his belly so he only lasted 4 shots before screamimg. So I stuck him in a basket I had handy so he could sit upright and then cropped it down to a headshot. Will post them all. I also installed a DOF app on my android.. very convenient.
Rinder, the little girl who is your best seller is absolutely stunning and adorable. I can see why these sell well.

The head shot (croped but still over 4mp)
I just love his funny expression, just needs a silly quote above it.

IMG_9508.jpg look close at where the wall and floor meet and run through his head and the dark shadows under his hands then there is the eyes to me they dont look right soft or something maybe because they aren't fully developed they are missing the mark.

IMG_9539.jpg kinda snapshotish with uneven lighting and drool running out of his mouth, and is that a lazy eye where one is looking straight and the other one isn't? His right eye is dead center and his left is in the corner and not dead center.
