I tried to upload some pictures from my iphone. The camera is an 8 megapixel, so why wouldn't they upload? Please help! Thanks.

Some people have had images accepted using the Iphone but they are also very well versed in what is required here.

If you want to succeed here you are going to need more then an Iphone.

And phone snapshots will nowhere near make the cut.

Post what you have over in the critique forum for help with them.

I understand what you are saying, but that was not my question. I was trying to say that once I put them up for submission, they would not upload (said that they weren't enough megapixels, but they do have enough megapixels). Any ideas??

Sure the camera on the phone is 8MP but what are the cameraphone settings set at?

You can change them and the front camera on most phones is only 3MP.

How can the megapixels be changed? Apple info. states that it is set at 8 megapixels.

Camera / menu / settings / resolution.

I use the iPhone and as far as I can see there are no settings for taking the shots with the phone. However, after taking the shot you can save it at different sizes which is something that may have happened if you did not save it at its largest setting. Also did you import it using editing software? You could have done something there in changing the size.

The Iphone doesn't allow you to change any of the settings??

Nothing to change ISO Focus WB or anything else?

That just doesn't sound right! Especially from an Apple product.

My Droid lets me set everything.

I went in and checked and also did a google search on it to be sure. The only thing I found was when saving the shot you had the choice of resolution and size.

Actually that sounds just like Apple. Apple has always been very restrictive in what you can and cannot do. Always has been a very limiting product.

But you just can't tell that to any of the cult following...

I cannot even imagine attempting to upload anything from my smartphone... even though my Droid will allow adjustments, it has no GLASS! It's a little tiny lens, and it takes CRAPPY 8mp pictures! I'm not even convinced it is made of glass, its probably plastic! And it gets so dirty hanging around in my pocket, no way in hell would I upload anything from that camera.

I know other sites have a list of preferred cameras they want their stock taken in. Does SS?

I was thinking of getting a smaller camera since I don't always want to bring my D300 with me and you never know when a photo op may arise.

SS doesn't insist on any particular brand or brands of camera - all they care about is the quality, no matter what equipment was used. So if you can find a small camera that equals your D300 for quality, there's no official reason not to use it.
