just editing the footage from yesterdays shoot and posted this one online listing the amount of work that went into producing the final stock clip...

https://vimeo.com/46548788

hunted down 2 old fashioned gramophones in a secondhand market in barcelona.
bought a retro headphones on ebay shipped from america.
sprayed my dj mixer silver to remove any logos.
just turned our garage into a new studio space, with proper backgrounds and new lights.
found a great model to work with on this shoot.
dress bought in a local market.
makeup artist along for the session.
shoot! this clip is made from a sequence of photos using the canon 7d's 8fps continuous mode.
overlayed blurred light effect from another clip that i filmed at an electronic music festival.
mixed all together dubassy style!

i think the clients here get good value for money!!

Great video as usual.
Yes, there is a ton of time in research, money for props, hire actors, etc.. that goes on behind the scenes for us too.

It reminds me the Monday night special at the corner bar is spaghetti and meat balls.

Just back tracking, following the thread, and that fighter pilot video is fantastic. Nice work!

Absolutely stunning! I usually spend hours painting out logos / branding in post but your way seems easier!

Hmmm... all I get to see is a still image. *sigh*

Am I being stupid as usual or is it GEMA blocking the content like 90% of all youtube and other sites...?

hey johann,

there was also some logo removal on the gramophones in post..... but the mixer i want to use for quite a few upcoming things, so spraying it 1 plain colour seemed like a good idea...

varius -

some of the shoot is now here on Shutterstock -

i think overall, larger investments in shoots is going to become more and more important to try and survive as new competition signs up to all the stock sites every day. im sure most of us here are investing a sizable amount of our money, time and energy into this game!

One of the problems I see would be storage. Those Gramaphones are going to need room to store. Would be so nice to have a studio to store everything in so it would all be right there on hand.

Yes, storage is always a problem for us. We even use our prop cabinets as storage for other props.

This is a quick video of a setup we had for a combination business and medical shoot.
The cabinets are all filled with props.

Talking about how much goes on to make a clip. I just shot a series of clips where I am a WWII pilot. The helmet, oxygen mask I bought on Ebay, flight jacket I've had for about 30 years.
Since I don't know how to make CG models of the plane, that part was old school taking macro photos of a model plane and putting that in 3d space in After effects. The rain was also a video I shot and composited in this video.
Windows were created in After Effects.

I WANT TO TAKE LESSONS FROM YOU! Those are wonderful. I have After Effects and have yet to learn to use it. My brain get's tired just thinking about it, but what you did combining the elements to make those movies makes me want to have a go at it.

Thank you Dubassy.
It was fun shooting this but with the time I spent learning how to do it and putting the elements together they would have to sell 100 times to make any money :)

Dustine, I'm not the one to learn from, I'm learning myself. I watched a ton of tutorial videos on Youtube and videocopilot.
Just have fun doing it. That's what I do.
