We prefer images for critique to be posted directly to SS with 100% crops. Please refer to the instructions at the top of the page of the critique forum.

In 1.jpg the pig looks ok to me - you've managed to show the contours, which must have been difficult. Unfortunately, there are clipped highlights all over the coins (they may not be pure white, but they're blown enough to lose all definition).

The coins are a bit better in 2.jpg, although the shadows might be a little too dark, but the pig looks very flat and needs more contrast to show the shape.

Apart from lighting, both photos would probably have been rejected for composition anyway, because of the tight crop that cuts off the top of the pig.

I'm coming to the rescue because you seem to be having trouble posting the pics for critique - next time, try to follow the instructions, before the angry villagers arrive with their pitchforks! (That's a private forum joke ;))

I think the problem you are having with posting the images correctly is that you are not resizing them correctly. As the instructions indicate make sure they are less than 500 pixels on the longest side and less than 247k.

Seriously, that sticky needs to be anihalated and a new sticky with 2 or 3 clear instructions needs to be posted and it needs to be locked down for comments.

I agree, it is just too complicated. You do not need to zoom in too 100%, just select a section less than 500px and your done 500px is 500px regardless of how much you zoom the image. The only reason for zooming to 100% is to see if it is in focus, nothing to do with cropping.

To show your full image, simply go to "Image Size: resize the longest side to 500 Pix.

The fastest way I have found to show a 100% image that is 500x500, is to make your self an image with a white background that is 500x500 pixels, and save it calling it "500x500 template".
(keep it somewhere that is easy to get to, like your desktop)

Open this template

Open any other image > Select "CTRL A" > "CTRL C"
(this selects ALL, and copies for those who don't use the keyboard)

Switch back to the template and use "CTRL V" (Paste)

You will see part of your image pasted into the 500x500 template, use the "ove tool" to select which part of the image you want to show.

SAVE AS (don't forget to rename)

Thanks for everyone's help.

Is this image an improvement? I've cropped out the coins in the foreground that had ugly direct reflections and mapped the colors to blue in order to make the remaining reflections appear less direct.
Lighting and WB whoa!
