Ahhhh....
Artistic Capitalism or is that Capitalistic Artists?
Makes no nevermind as they both ring of poetic justice!

For some reason that reminds me of those dandy highway men that would rob stagecoaches. Oh, the lure of times long past. I think if I were one of them I would choose early morning for the slightly pink hue in the air, it would add a bit of sensual drama to the masked man jumping out of a tree wearing a funny pointed hat and sticking a blunderbuss in ones face......I think I would also want to be sure to have the sun rising behind me so that there was this heavenly glow all around so that as the coach rode off, the still shaken passengers would get one last majestic look.....

ah... forget all that....

Revisiting this one (who am I kidding, I read everything, lol) after the notice of a new post came through, and the subject kinda rang a bell - Existing Photographers Verses New Photograhers...

I wonder, does that statement strike a chord with anyone else? I kinda picture ShutterStock as a community - I don't think the new photographers are out to get the existing ones, or vice versa - I'm glad to see new people here, it injects fresh images, builds the site which will then bring more buyers, etc - so the whole 'versus' makes me think about how the 'other' photographers are perceived... is this a competition? Should it be more like a big match between two premier league teams, keep your tactics covered in case you get a boot in them? Or can we just keep it somewhere where we're all uploading images for sale, and that evil 'new' photographer isn't really out to get you, he's just another guy with a camera trying to make a little cash on the side??

Don't get me wrong - come to an art market, set your stand up next to mine with clones of my images, and I'll get as shirty as the next man, or even woman, but we're all submitting images on the same site - the only 'competition' comes from having the image the designer wants... and the more they get that they want, the more they'll want to come here... let's keep the existing photographers and the new photographers cohabiting in a peaceful harmony - especially given those 'new' photographers definitely outnumber the 'existing' crowd... lol

Cheers,
Stuart

I am new here. I don't know exactly how the site works. So far I love it. I had an image rejected by another site reason sales potential too low. the first day it was on this site sold. It is my best seller on this site. I think it is what the customer is in need of. I think that key words promote your sales. I don't know if there is a gallery the buyer gets to view or if they just type in what it is they are looking for.
I have not been here very long but so far I am very happy with my sales. Not that I have sold that much. I also don't have that many uploaded. so far I am very pleased. Tigerlily

Is this site old enough to have old photographers? Hmmmm..... Aren't we all new here? And how would this be determined? Join date? Number of sales? Number of uploads? Actual age of photographer... Again, I say, Hmmmm.....

fluttering by and noticed the eerie silence on the very creative writing piece above. Very nice stephen. You're a whack job, but at least you redeem yourself with photography. ;-) By the way, anyone who wants to donate money to the poor soul who is that man's assistant please e-mail me at rebecca@cottagestreet.com . I gladly accept charity.

that is all.

Hey, it's not like I haven't invited you for those stage coach runs!

I understand there will be one coming through town tonight during the blizzard....I'll lend you the cool Zorro mask.....it will be great fun and I will let you take some pictures of me in my dashing outfit as i leap from the tree branch and land on the coach driver's noggen...pushing him out of his seat into the freshly fallen snow, I will take hold of the reins and slow down as the coach approaches the studio.... that's when you come in......pulling open the door and screaming at the passengers like a pteradactyl (sp?)... we'll drag them all into the studio, do some delightful portraits of the city folk, juice them up with wine, get them all to sign model releases for SS and sent them on their way.......

so, are you really ready to be a photographer's assistant?

why yes, yes I do.

Photographer's assistants are people too.

I'm a new person here, and I'm not out to get any of you. Well, I think I'm new here. And by age, I thought I was new too, but ::vaguely masking age:: as a woman in my twenties, I guess quite a few people here have me beat.

Maybe they're out to get all of us?
