I believe Jon said they were going to work on 'keywords that belong together' and that it was a difficult bit of programming. So what about creating some official list of keyword abbreviations? Like MLAC for 'model looking at camera' and MNLAC for 'model not looking at camera' or 4oj for '4th of July'. If the list is well though out and flexible and made available to both designers and submitters, it could help the designers get to what they're looking for easier.

Just a thought.

The point was that since there is no current way to allow multi-word keywords without some major programming, a list of agreed upon keyword abbreviations might help.

As long as there was an available legend or list of currently accepted keyword abbreviations I don't see how it would confuse anyone. The keyword abbreviations would simply be one more way to narrow a search.

Do you really think this idea a good work around?

Think of it.
Many people would have to learn the abbreviations.
Thousends of abbreviations where needed.
And over 138.000 pics has no such abbreviations in it, so the result in searching for that could only hit less pics.

I think better to wait for the time phrases in keywords work, because no one has to learn anything new. Of course 138.000 pics has no phrases in it, but to alter the keywords of the pics which really need them is less work than alter the pics for abbreviations and again for phrases, when the possibility of use is coming up. I think your idea is just an overload of work for all not helping a lot.

But again suggesting...

Including the description in the search would help more, because many pics allready has keywords belonging together or phrases in it and nothing else has to be done. And I think the progamming effort for this extention is not quite big.

Can we add this acronym to the legend?TJNWTWW meaning:"Theres Just No Way That Would Work".There would have to be a billion acronyms to make it work,I just cant see it being a FB:"feasible solution".Im sure a cure for MK:"multi keywords" is in the works and HOTPL:"high on the priority list"......RoDeHi:"Ronald Dean Hilton"

Personally, I think that multi-word keywords will never be of great use since it is too subjective and way too open-ended as FNC so humorously demonstrated. You almost need some sort of natural language parser to handle it well and to do that globally sounds prohibitive to me.

I was talking about a list of say 10-20 things that would be useful to designers and might actually work better as check boxes (such as model looking at or away from camera).

But since everyone seems to think it's such a horrible idea, I'll just say a happy "Doh!" and get on about producing more content.
