There is alot of crap on SS compared to other stock sites of this size... back from the day that SS told the masses to 'upload those photos sitting on your hard drive' (see popular photography magazine in summer 2005). (\[don't believe it ? Ask Laurin about my portfolio..;)] But cheating or not.. if published in the right place, could bring more business too, because SS does have amazing product amidst the dull. |

SS has been at the top of sales for a while for me, no other agency comes ANYWHERE near!
but hey now is the agency with most photos online that is a good achievement as well :)

Congratulations to all you photographers who have made this possible, your photos are the foundations on which Shutterstock is built. I am glad to be a part of it and I hope SS will open new doors for all you contibutors. I think this is just the start of a great business.

I didn't bother to sign up with SS initially as the 20c return hardly seemed worth it, and 25c is still low compared to £1 + returns on other sites for larger images, but I gave it a try with a few images and discovered they did sell, and sold in larger quantities to compensate for the lower return. SS is possibly the Micro Microsite!
Now I upload here first to see if an image has potential, and many start selling almost straight away, and with a smaller portfolio I'm catching up with the other sites - one of which has messed around so much with its search engine that previous sellers aren't found anymore.
