Francois,
Such a great variety in all your clips from your roadtrip. I hope to get the same variety when I take one in a few weeks. I'm going to scotland for 8 days! Should be some cool stuff! |

While the UK is considerably smaller than Canada, it has a very high density of interesting places. Stonehenge, white cliffs of Dover, Brighton, London, Liverpool, Sheffield, all the old university cities, Scottish highlands, York, all the historical buildings, the Limes, wild sea coast on all sides,... I mean, really, how much more do you need? ;-) Just don't climb down the cliffs at Land's End, please. |
Well I almost fell off the cliffs at Flamborough a couple of years ago just for a photo. Actually I live near the north east coast and yorkshire which is one of the most beautiful and photogenic places in the country and you're right, you could spend a lifetime in just one area. We have no vast expanse that you have to travel across to get from one place to another.
By the way my daffodil time lapse is up now so I'd appreciate any comments. |

Ahh - Flamborough Head - used to holiday there as a kid with my parents. A static caravan and everything! Went back there with some mates when I turned 17 (many years ago) for a drinking holiday (ish)
Are those strange white rocks with holes in still at Danes Dyke? |

So I took a day trip yesterday, Varius-style, 360 km SW of Calgary skirting the edge of the Rocky Mountains. I forgot how beautiful this part of the province can be, 45 minutes of footage, some 40 clips. It's not so much getting shots but also reconnaissance for future shoots. The weather was pretty nice, a strong Chinook wind (like Santa Ana or Sirocco or more accurately foehn winds) blowing anywhere from 20-90 kmh depending on location. A few areas that have constant winds have unique features such as trees with short west facing branches and long eastward branches, bows bent heavy in the wind.
Despite the winds I picked up some good shots, horses running in a mountain valley; a massive 16,500 ton 9 metres high, 41 metres long and 18 metres wide glacial erratic called "Big Rock"; oil patch pump-jacks; mountain and ranch scenery, traffic and more.
All around a great day, +15c is always nice this early in the year. As the days get longer and warmer I'll be taking more of these trips, well worth it. I hope everyone else has a chance to try it too this year. This batch of clips should push me over 3000 clips in total.

Nice. I guess I'll have to wait a bit more than a week to see them - I'll be off for a rather long trip... |
