I'll be off for a somewhat long-ish trip through northern Germany for a bit more than a week. I've got a few business meetings (and a visit to the dentist) but apart from that I'll have a couple of days free to shoot - and the weather predictions sound nice.

So... Since I'm the forgetful type person, any advice what I should take on the trip? Any suggestions what to shoot? Been a while since I've been visiting the North...

Extra Batteries, tapes, tripod, model release forms, notepad and pen, map, fire wire, lens cleaner, maybe a good time to replace battery in your microphone if you use one.

Have Fun, drive safely....

Firewire! Good call! :)

No laptop yet, but I'll be staying at my parents' place most of the time, so I'll have internet access every other night or so. (Along with a PC to backup all my photos and savely store my tapes.)

No sound equipment yet either, but the business meetings there sould generate the cash to take care of that either. So, when I'm back I'm open to suggestion for some nice audio... maybe with a nice HD camcorder as well. We'll see.

Day1:

Hardly got any sleep, got up early and with the begin on summer-saving-time we lost an hour anyway. ;-/

Resisted to shoot all the nice view close than 200km to home - I'll do that on single day trips. Took a lot of notes though. Good thing my daughter was with me - hope I can read her notes...

1PM arrive at Eisenach, visiting the Wartburg. Lots of shots from the historic building and a few the historic center of the city. Most of this will have to be editorial though - SS doesn't accept property releases.

After that a short visit to the former inner-German border. Not much to see there, but we did get a nice shot of one of the old watchtowers from the border.

Another sunset stop at the "Marsfeld", Germany's largest, not coastel wind energy project. Approximately 200 windmills type energy generators - I didn't know how much NOISE they make at strong wind! Guy came up and wanted to know if I was a spy or a terrorist. ;-) Explained and had a nice chat about the project - he even pointed me to a better place too shoot. Got to try that next time I come by there.

Got to my parents' place (@Lars: That's in Quirckendorpp - good luck finding that on a map! - Try near Bielefeld) an hour or so ago. Charging batteries, burning CD backups of photos.

Total count so far: 650km, 75min tape, 70photos (mostly family snaps) approximately 50 clips (at least 20 of them editorial). Dead tired...

Packing, seting the alarm clock, off to bed. Nighty-night everyone! *wave*

Day 2:
250km drive to Hamburg, lots of travel shots. Me driving, traffic in general, and of course the Hamburg harbor. Got some nice shots from a large container freight ship. It's almost impossible to get into the actual freight harbor area though. Custom, police, private security... *sigh*

Another 100km drive for the "Nord-Ostsee-Kanal", a channel connecting the North Sea with the East Sea (is it called that in English?) and thus the Baltic Sea - again some large freight ships. :)

Another 80km to St.Peter-Ording, a coastal town on the North Sea for a golden sunset and some local shrimp boats. Got some industry shots on the way there as well.

The a night ride back home, including raw material for a time-lapse through Hamburg at night. Again a few Industry shots - petrol industry at night.

Came home at 2am and noticed I had forgotten to eat anything that day...

Day 3:
Mostly business meetings, hardly any time for shooting. Managed to get a few decent shots from the river Weser, a castle, some sheep, a lynx, a windmill and a nuclear power station.

Total count so far: 1600km, 3h45min tape, 80photos (mostly family snaps) plus 3 photo TL sequences approximately 120 clips, maybe more - I lost count.

Tomorrow and the day after will both be Business stuff mostly, so not much shooting (but some direct income). Next real shooting day will be Friday.

Sounds like you've been really busy. Can hardly wait to see your clips.

Oh, on your next shooting day, don't forget to eat.

Probably was a good idea not to eat yesterday. Three business meetings today and two of them were dinners... How to reject more and more food without being impolite...? ;-)

Anyway, got a few clips in between meetings. Mostly from a monument for one of Germany's last emporers.

Tomorrow will be business only. More shooting trips on Friday.

Update:
Just arrived back home. Didn't have any more time for shooting, but on the bright side I now have a project that should give me the funds to buy a HD camcorder in June. :)
