I've just get e letter from a photographer girl. She complains that wanted to register as my referral, but it is no Russia (or Russian Federation) in the list of countries on register page.

Certain countries have to send in their portfolios before we will accept them as photographers.
They can contact submit@shutterstock.com |

Because of widespread corruption & other problems that are (unfortunately) rife in certain parts of the world...

We will still allow photographers from anywhere in world -- after communicating with them and understand their portfolio is 100% theirs.

you know... like the old saying that 99% of the lawyers is giving the rest a bad name ;-D
it's a shame that it happened. Don't see it as discrimination, see it as "preventative maintenance" and in the end it protects you just as much as your friends and referrals! |

Another site says 'We may need to contact you before you can submit photographs' - which left one of my friends sitting there for several weeks waiting to be contacted - then he asked how long it takes, and I mentioned I just went right ahead and FTP'd a stack of files and got on with it - I guess their 'clause' covers some of those countries with issues...
Cheers,

O.K. I get the message from you and sent the reply.
At least there no problem with Russia. Hope, it was the last and the final manifestation of the Cold War (joke :-)) |
