Thanks Jon - as an up-and-comer, it's nice to hear that there is some stability doing this and that you are working to be fair with the people that bring you your product! Looked good in the CNN article by the way, too bad the photo numbers for FT look skewed or else SS would appear the clear leader in the "David" market (which we all know to be true anyway) :) Keep up the hard work! |

I'd like to say that this is the most fair, open, sharing and at the same time official message I've ever read across all microstock sites. Thank you for this.

I felt the same way when I read it. I appreciated the sense of trust. With such communication I think we could even endure reverses in raises if matters change. |

I have got to say, Shutterstock is by far the best Microstock site. No other site gives as much time and money to their photographers. The review times are amazing and the profits are triple most other sites.
Getting even more per download would be outstanding.
The future of Shutterstock is very bright. You do a great job at pleasing the submitters. |

Thank you! Your post made me feel better than ever about being a SS contributor. It's great (and rare!) to hear directly 'from the horse's mouth', as they say, the 'why, how, and when' regarding financial strategies. Not to mention such fairness when it comes to a possible raise for contributors... I am extremely impressed!
SS is the best! :) |

Shutterstock sure feels like home. I love it here, it's a nice place to be. I'm sure we will get a raise that is fair and equatable. Thanks for the update Jon and here's to continued happiness and success for us all. |

As you know - we take risk. If somebody comes in and downloads all of the photos allotted to them, we are net negative.

I knew this, but I am so surprised because I thought SS has a secret income. I did not believe that SS is taking this risk.
Well both SS staff and their photographers will make evolution in stock images. |

Thanks Jon -- for the update and for the potential raise. And for creating what is, in my opinion, the friendliest, while most informative, community in microstock. |

I've been impressed with the quality and professionalism of SS from the start. This announcement just reinforces that impression.
I'm proud to be a small part of this great business. |

They do make quite a bit off of the Extended license sales. We get less than 50% of that commission. Which is fine with me, still $20 is higher than most sites. |
