A raise would be a nice little boost. As it is SS is already my best money maker. |

I've been here a couple years now Jon, and I always appreciate both the honesty when you post, and the hard work behind the scenes. You took a simple idea and turned it into a goldmine for everyone involved -- including the clients I work with who could never afford the "original" Internet big players. Besides, our stuff is better anyway, in my opinion :)
Thanks for all you do. And thanks to those 25+ employees who are always in and out of the forums answering the same questions over and over, and for all the employees and associates (RINDER) who also review. I would never second guess Laurin, nor any other reviewer. They're taught to look for things I don't yet see.
Before I ramble (too late?), I would just say thanks, and good job. Whatever the model comes up with for a raise, I already know it will be fair not just to make up for inflation and the cost of living, but also for the success of SS, and the expected expense of continued, hard-hitting marketing like you've been doing.
It might not be said often enough, but your efforts, and your team's efforts, are appreciated by so many of us.
Thanks for all you do.

That's one of the most honest, open messages from a CEO I've ever read.

| shutterstock wrote: | Hey guys.. we're crunching the numbers, and will have an answer to you by the end of April on the pay raise.
Shutterstock is a computationally complex model.. And we're running all the numbers now. We should have a good feel for what the $199 price point does to our sales in the next couple of weeks. At that time, we will announce the raise. As you know - we take risk. If somebody comes in and downloads all of the photos allotted to them, we are net negative.
When I started Shutterstock, I made sure we would have the marketing dollars built into the buyer/download equation. This math has gotten a bit more complicated since day 1. We now have enhanced licenses, cd burns, 25 employees, 5500sqft of office space in Manhattan (between our 2 offices), a huge marketing budget, 130 servers, 2 data centers, and 55,000 wonderful photographers.
Remember - nothing out there like Shutterstock exists. When other risk-less models want to raise prices, they can give you a raise right away. We have to model it out - and make sure there is room for everything in the end. Please give us the next couple of weeks to do our job, and we'll be back at the end of April with news.
Thanks again
