I have now bought my HV20 and submitted my first files to be reviewed but it seems to take a long time?
I have taken all the steps you all advised me and I am having fun with my new camera. I have discovered that a HD camera has twice the number of lines and four times the pixels of an ordinary camera. Although
it works well in studio lighting I think the colours have more depth outside. The picture quality is better
than most TV video.
I have two sites taking footage but need others to help me pay for the costs of setting up.
My email is petebax@myway.com and if there any referal
fees I thought someone might like them. Obviously it is a case of first come first served.
Thank you all again for your help I would have not got this far without it.
Pete

You've got mail - or at least you should. ;-)

My last batch here was just reviewed. Took about 6 days this time, which is unusual - it's a lot faster normally. Can't wait to see what you've come up with.

I'd also love to read some reports on the performance of your new beauty (the HV20). I intend to go HD in June (working on the funds) and the HV20 is one of the cameras I'm interested in.

Anyway, good luck with your submissions and lots of fun with your new toy/workhorse. ;-)

Thanks for your help again I am eagerly waiting for my review. In my youth I occassionally wrote little acts for TV people like Benny Hill who were looking for a minute or maximum or 2 minutes. I am finding getting an act into 10 to 15 seconds very hard. I have found a model that will perform them and that is what I hope to do. The real secret is finding a good punch line. It is like telling a joke in one sentence.
Did you hear about the gay cowboy who shot up the sherriff? I wont be doing that one.
Still it is good fun. All the best.

its a long process but it works for cheap...

Ha Ha
Just kidding

sort of feels like that though, I have a sony HI8 Digital camera from a few years ago and am thining of upgrading

Hi Pete,

I was also looking at the HD cam you bought but decided against it because it had no external mic input or shutter/iris control

(it will also only be launched here in about three months, so that was the kicker)

Did you decide on a cam yet, Sean? I'm still looking, but manual iris, zoom and focus is a must have for me...

yep... best one I could find so far was the Panasonic gs500

It's got external sound (big for me) but also has manual Iris, manual Focus, zoom, etc... pretty happy with it... gives decent results (or so I think... you can tell me if the clip I sent in actually gets reviewed!)

My only gripe is that "wide-angle" is a very relative term....

First off I got all my initial submissions accepted
but I haven't sold any yet and its been 10 mins!!!!
Come on don't you know class when you see it!!!!!
Second forgiss it will take an external mic and a horse mic I don't have one yet but thinking about it.
I would sooner have a horse shoe light I think I have just found one I am checking out. Ideally you want something that does both. When I add sound I do it in
Adobe Premiere it give perfect mixing abilty. Also I have an address in the states that will post anywhere
and he is cheap if they haven't launched yet. Got my camera a month before the launch date. My two bits of a problem with the camera is the setup button is a bit small for my fingers. Second the remote control is very good with loads of extras on it but I would prefer one attached with a cable you have to hold it
and point at the front of the camera which takes experiance when you are stood behind.
What it will do is allow you to sit and film yourself
and control it all with the remote the LCD spins round
so you can watch yourself perform. Great for actors and ego maniacs. Appart from those two faults it is a fantastic camera. It also has wide angle and filters cost extra.Pete

You see... Nobody I spoke to could confirm that it has external mic inputs. or the manual Iris for that matter...

Mine is miniDV but I'm happy... for now, it will suffice while I learn.

(by the way... My first clip is accepted but still doesn't show anywhere... was I supposed to submit 10? I only submitted 1 because I wasn't sure about the codecs, and the sound, etc (sorry for hijacking the thread))

One is enough. For now. We expect tons more, obviously. ;-)

Both of you should be getting these nice little footage icons soon. The servers are a little slow with catching up though. Might take a day until the icons and your clips show up. Can't wait to see them.

hahaha... thanx!!

I seemed to have lost the sound there, though...

I also have a problem with the long zoom ranges... if I switch of the stabiliser, I pick up the vibration of the bikes as they pass me (through the tripod) but if I leave the stabiliser on, it seems that I get a bit of "floating"
