because...
No, really... I had a 10D, wore that one out and am currently on a 20D... a few things about this camera:
1. Speed is Awesome
2. Startup is superfast
3. RAW images is uncomparable to any other camera in this range (Approx 4 stops latitude...therefore won the award for best imaging product of 2004)
4. ISO 100
5. Handling of Contrasty light is superb
6. Buffer is Huge and clears FAST, even in Raw I can get two bursts of 6 images before the camera starts to slow down and even then It only takes a second or so to do another 6 burst or do at least another 3 if I can't wait
7. oh, and It is 8mp
8. It's only $1300
Those are the highlights... me thinks... ad a few L lenses (I shoot 17-40 L and 70-200 L) and you have the sharpest images! |

IMHO,
Without the EXIF Data, it is impossible to comment on that picture.
Can you provide the EXIF Data please ? |

Well that explains it ... and infact (IMHO) is a good selling point for the 20D
Here is the Exif Data from the dpreview site.
Focal len: 67 mm,
Shutter: 1/60 sec,
Aperture: F2.8,
Meter: 3.8 EV,
EF 24-70 mm L,
ISO 3200
You cannot judge a book by its cover. |

Thanx Rigger!
I was just looking for an image here: we had a drum-scanned Velvia compared to an ISO 800 20D image (same lenses, same light).... and honestly.... I am very dissappointed in Velvia!!!
However...
when shooting at high ISO, your lightmetering better be spot on, otherwise you are seriously stuffed! |

An S7000.
I love it. But I also hate it.
Strictly, It's more like ISO400 but I'm just pissed off today because I'm studying for my finals (Aircraft Flight Dynamics today)
I bought it when I came back from Brussels and spent nearly the cost of the camera in developing, just for 7x5's, then I ordered reprints. Without the 7x5's (as with digital) I worked out it would take 2600 shots to make it worthwhile. Ergo: I spent £400, now I want a 20d and am more hooked on photography than ever, but am constantly frustrated with noise rejections from shutterstock. You may note the lack of indoor shots in my gallery... |

A Flyboy! I like you allready!!!
You might want to get yourself the 350D as a stepping stone (same sensor/processor but I think new lightmeter)
I know a few guys that shoot with them here and the quality is right there with the 20D. Build quality is not the same though, but unless you really thrash your equipment (like me) then you should be fine...
motordrive is slower, buffer is not so big, but still kicks the hell out of a 10D!!!
My only gripe is that it is to small for my hands... but then, for half the price, buy a vertical battery grip extra and you are still a few pounds closer to getting a really nice L lens |

Really want a Sturdy camera. I took some rock climbing shots on saturday (As in I was climbing and shooting another climber) and having the 20d would've made it alot safer. I was constantly trying not to swing and bash the s7k on the rocks.
I was so worried about damaging the s7000 (no insurance cover for stupid things like that) and I could see me abusing a camera a fair bit so I'd rather wait.
PS: Flying is cool, Aeronautical Engineering is not. REALLY want to go sky diving, but it's pretty expensive isn't it? I did however find a gliding school in the Southwest (I'm moving to Bristol after I graduate), so that's a possibility. |

I am a model flyer myself (can't afford losing my medical insurance - which you do if you pilot your own plane) but I love flying!!!
Come over to SA, Skydiving is actually quite cheap here! |
