Smashing, I'd love one. That's the kind of image perfection one dreams about. I wonder how the Canon MkIII would compare, it would be interesting to see. I'm not sure Canon lenses have the definition to match that, regardless of the sensor.
On the other hand, the word "overkill" also comes to mind. It's crazy to use this sort of gear for micros, some of which can't accept the file size and none of which delivers the sort of return that would justify this investment. I wonder if you would have put up 80k yourself, on the basis of the return even you will get (will this actually earn you a penny more than you would get from using your IDs MkII? I rather doubt it).
It is hard to think of RF applications that require this sort of definition. Anyway, thanks for showing what it can do. Good publicity all round ;)

Look at this close-up. 100% unsharpend and strait from RAW. The picture is pretty shitty so don't look too much at it. :)[/code]

There is a lot of truth in the overkill aspect. However, I don't get files rejected for being to overfiltred looking anymore, don't have to think about Fringing, Banding, Noise or too low shutterspeed when syncing flash. This year I shot more then 60000 frames and produced about 4500 stock images. Next year I will probably be producing about 5000 or 6000 stock images, so considering that I do not have to bother with all these problem aspects on all these images, it actually pays off. My working hours will be spent taking pictures and not blurring away noise, reducing fringing, downsizing or trying to fix banding problems.
The overkill aspect is true when it comes to the resolution on the digital back of the Hasselblad being 39mp, which is way too much for microstock. I could have chosen a 22mp or a 31mp back, but due to my sponsorship I have to use the top end Hasselblad gear, including all the gadgets they have..the GPS unit, etc.
Next year I will also be producing stock for the traditional market as well as micro and in that industry people just love Hasselblad.

the big ship needs the big ocean!
but don't forget, your life becomes cost less in inverse proportion, if you go with this camera outside ...

"pretty shitty"???
Hahaha.
I think that's actually, a pretty awesome shot.
Thanks for the laugh, and the views.
Always wondered what shots looked like off of that particular camera.
It's on my list...

Yeah, would you take it out, traveling? Landscape or cityscape is a different category with such resolution... But model releases for cityscape))...

Great gear, I'm jealous. However if to use that kind of equipment became the norm it would be the end of micro-stock as only top pros and the top few % of contributers could afford it. So the community would shrink and go back to normal stock.

Those lashes are unreal...it's like shooting with a microscope :) Are you gonna do any macro work with that, Yuri?

Yes. I can go as close as 5 cm with the Hasselblad 120mm macro wihtout the use of any extension tubes. But the things is, that whit this camera pretty much every shoot is a macro. I could probably crop out the eye of most people picture, upsize it 200% and still get it approved most places. :)
But yes. I will be pushing this monster to microscopic levels when we start shooting "real" close-ups. I will make sure to post some crops of a few bacteria. :)
