THIS, on the other hand, concerns me.
I could spend no time at all in Photoshop taking out this watermark.
The OLD logo was much harder to get rid of, with it's black film strip and the camera clip art.
I didn't love it, but it did it's job.

That guy should first take care of his own logo before critiquing others' works. |

How an image looks with watermark - not how the watermark looks - is #1 for me, and that's the main reason I like the new logo.
Though watermarks are necessary evils, I feel the new one achieves a better balance of protecting image from casual thief and displaying image as effectively as possible. Plus - I assume because of its design and less instrusive nature - placement seems to be automatic, which I can easily live with.
I respect that everyone has own priorities and personal taste, but, when all is said and done, the new logo works for me. |

Nice I miss the camera, If I fgot the name of the site and randonly typed names I'd recognise it by the previous logo now it just looks like any other logo and I'd never recognise it in a sea of stock photo logos |

For me this new logo looks as done in rush...
As first point in design there is something called optical space (optical middle space) between letters where isn't followed that rule. Any logo must be easy readable and not to make any visual problem in 'decoding' what is which letter where this new logo fails.
Some people may missread this like 'shutecok' or similar with pausing in 'decoding' sh utt er st o ck due to unnatural connection to that letters... Where last two letters look like 'ok' and not as they should look 'ck'.
There should be a quite bit redo due to 'low readable capacity' of this logo.
I sugest that letters should have space between so reading of logo can be easier.
Also, I liked old one with camera... But, now there are more products offered (as vectors and footage) so there is need to change that camera to something which is 'more fit' to current product pallete. This one could be ok... But to me it looks like many others and it does not fit to what company business is... I'd sugest square logo with eye in it or eye with square in reflection due to that this is visual product company and not TV broadcaster or botanical lab...
Just my 33 cents and brand design expirience since 1992.
P.S. To designer who made this new logo: Read and try to understand some real old fat book about design ;-) |

Quick correction of factual error I made earlier:
You CAN still pick watermark placement (of course).
So, I compared effectiveness of portrait, with eyes that happen to be dead center, with the logo across eyes (at another site) and clear of eyes (here), and seeing the eyes is hands down winner.
(Again, I feel all but casual thiefs can get rid of virually any watermark, alas.)
