I think I asked this question a while back, but couldnt find the post. I tried searching, several times, so forget about telling me to.
I went by Border's today, and I saw a book that I swear was highly recommended. It's "Langford's Advanced Photography; The Guide for Aspiring Photographers". Its a pretty thick book, about 400 pages, and damned expensive at $51.. Is this a good read? Any other recommendations?

I've often recommended Bryan Peterson's Understanding Exposure. He talks mostly on the basics regardless of what type of camera you own.

Now if you're looking for something that is more suited to what we do here and already know the basics of photography, http://www.rindersmithphotography.com/

I'm reading "The Creative Digital Darkroom" by Katrin Eismann and Sean Duggan... amazingly insightful book on using Photoshop and Lightroom... although I wouldn't recommend it for a beginner because they delve into some very advanced techniques...
