Does anyone know if it is possible to pay with paypal in the USA?
With making reservations for hotels for instance.

Thanx for the tips. Sorry I couldn't post earlier, but I was banned from the forums and I got an accountwarning too for that, so freedom of speach is dead here.

But I asume it's still save to write about a trip. And for the rest of the subjects I'll try to shut my mouth.

In the meantime I've found a dutchforum about travelling in the USA, so I've got some nice tips there too.

I was considering the tip to fly to Grand Junction, but they mentioned that in that case dropping off the car would be very expensive because it wouldn't be in a state next to Colorado.

My parents got home from their travels, so we talked about the trip and we both agree about starting in Las Vegas. We do want to add the road from San Francisco to Los Angeles and end there, so we can spend one day in Disneyland also.

This weekend I stumbled on i4vegas.com and found out there are very low prices in hotels on the strip: Imperial Palace (central strip) costs only about 35 dollars per night!

Does any of you know sites like that with good but not expensive hotels on good locations in San Francisco and Los Angeles?

San Francisco is a tiny little city 9abt 1,000,000 people), and is surrounded by many other cites, in which the hotels are much cheaper. I would suggest that you look for a hotel outside of San Francisco itself, and either take the Bay Area Rapid Transit into the city or pay through the nose for parking, and contend with the idiot bicyclists who think that the rules of the road do not apply to them.
None of these other cities are more than 45 kilometres away including San Jose, Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, San Mateo, Burlingame, South san Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley, Castro Valley, Hayward, San Leandro, Union City, Fremont and Milpitas (this is not on a Bart route or a train route)
Hotels i the city will run $200 and up, hotels in the other citeis will start at about $50.
