Terrible news for foreign submitters - I'm sorry to hear it.

Pain in the ass, but truth be told we should be more upset with US government for trying to control everyone around the globe, and not SS, since they have to follow US rules (my guess is other US based stock agencies will also do that sooner or later).

I for one don't run my business in US, don't work for anyone in US, and US government should have no business having any info about me or collect any taxes for the income I have earned in Canada.

With that said we will have to sign the stupid form if we want to avoid tax deduction.

What bugs me too, is for all I know, all of my buyers are from Europe, so then what business is it of the US, not just that, but shouldn't they be seeing what % of sales were actually made from the States, as opposed to Europe, and then making out their cut???

Obviously SS are using the States to process all of their money, but the money originates from Europe and al over the world, so why should we the submitter have to give our details to the country SS chose to bank with, SS should be carrying the tax cost in my opinion.. or do their banking from Europe..

We're not employed by SS they are only an agent for our sales commission. Seems very strange to me. I'm not sure if there is anyway on my tax form that I could reclaim this in any case. I guess I could call my tax office and find out about this, at least they are free unlike my lawyer!

Other threads on this are being locked I see....
