I'm really confused here by what's happening at SS site. All of my vehicle photos have been deleted, and from what I read here it's due to legal issues with Ford, etc. But what about drawing/illustrations? I had 2 of them deleted... This doesn't make any sense... They are not photos...

Yes, my car renders have just been deleted as well. This is wrong. These are illustrations, they are not of any make of car, they are generic!

Yup, they deleted mine too. I've emailed support for an explanation, just because I'm curious as to the decision. They still haven't got back to me so they must be busy. But I think they're erring on the side of caution.

Not that I care really. It is their loss more than mine. I'm considering pulling everything off here anyway.

How does one do that anyway, email support? Do they reply in the end?

I haven't emailed support about this yet. I didn't have that many car illustrations here anyway and if they are deleting all of the cars then buyers will go elsewhere for them anyways. I'm wondering if they may backpedal on this like they did on the tax issue. So I'm in "wait and see" mode at the moment. If it gets worse and they start deleting other illustrations as well then I will definitely be trying to get an official reply from SS.
I'm sorry to say though that so far I have never once had a reply to any email I've sent to support - I hope you're more lucky!

Greetings from a fellow Cornishman! :)

Hello Submitters,

We have always conducted routine audits on our collections to make sure that our images and footage clips are up to standards. Recently we have begun conducting audits focusing on vehicles (motorcycles, cars, scooters, etc.). In order to avoid any potential trademark/copyright issues for our subscribers, submitters and Shutterstock, we have decided to take a more rigorous stance on our acceptance policy regarding images of vehicles. Images of isolated vehicles or images in which the vehicle is the principal subject will no longer be accepted, regardless of whether or not brand names have been removed.

As always, all submissions are evaluated on a case by case basis.

Best Regards,
