Even if there are no spelling mistakes, but the reviewer thinks there is,
will we have to write it all out again from the beginning?

Can you tell that I'm still sulking from having a version of my best selling clip rejected for "Low Commercial Value"?

Still it could be worse - you CGI folks rejected for not using a tripod!

From your forum post, it appears that you are using the 'call for writers' Forum post as a way to complain about a rejected footage clip.

Unless you wrote in regarding your clip being rejected using a different email, we do not see any recent email about it at all, unfortunately. I would advise that you email us with the issue so that it is resolved in a timely manner. You are, however, free to resubmit the clip with a note to the reviewers "to please see management about this clip."

Hello Anthony,

yes, sorry that was very unprofessional of me, I was having a petty vent,

it's not for me to tell you how to run your business.

I was also indirectly replying to Kev... "I don't even upload to SS any more because the inspectors must be smokin' somethin'..."

When there are such fundamental mistakes made by reviewers, the idea of sending an email and re-uploading seems a pointless waste of time.

I've been very busy with D.O.P'ing, stills photography, and making my own films,
so if anyone makes a lazy mistake that cost me time, I get really pissed off with them.

I hate accurate rejections for about a week, then I think I'm an idiot for not seeing what your astute reviewer saw, and get pissed at myself for wasting my own time.

Regular inaccurate rejections are unforgivable.

Don't get me wrong, I like SS - You introduced me to joy of micro-stock video,
I went out and bought a HDV camera after accidently coming across your site,
and I'm hoping to submit again sometime in the future.

I still look through the forums for interesting info, and hoping for an announcement that you have implemented a "holding zone" for rejected clips so any unfairly rejected clips don't have to be re-uploaded and key-worded again.

But like I said, it's not for me to tell you how to run your business, so I'll just keep my big mouth shut in future ;-)

I can feel your pain; I used to take rejections very personally in the beginning. But now, I just accept it.

If the rejection reason given was for a plausible circumstance, then I learn from it. If it was a nonsensical reason (like "use a tripod" on CG clips), I just disregard it and think to myself, "this clip will sell elsewhere; it's Shutterstock's loss."

And they usually do.

Reviewing your account status, it appears that your last clip approval was back in May 2009. If that is indeed the case, please note that we have made considerable improvements to the Footage review team process since your last upload to Shutterstock. The Footage review team has received an emphasis on training as well as improving upon the standard of understanding a clips' potential use overall.

We understand that every process stands to be improved and the Footage review team is no exception. The team has and will continue to improve into the future.

In terms of a "holding area" we do plan improvements to the submit process overall and this idea is in the plans. Not having this functionality now though should not stop you from uploading your content. That is my main message to you.

If you have clips that you feel are commercially viable I encourage you to submit them. You have a very nice portfolio, overall.

OD - it's not the rejections as such, it's the time wasted.

I'm getting less and less tolerant of anyone or anything that wastes my time,

as Oscar Wilde said: "life's too short for re-uploading" ... or was it chess? ... the musical.
