Hi to all. I have a question concerning Illustrator CS3. Are vectors done with this Illustrator series accepted at SS?
Thanks

As long as they're exported as either EPS 8 or EPS 10 (If you've got transparancies in your file) and there's nothing technically wrong with your illustration (like open paths, stray points, etc.) then you should be fine.

The same applies, you must save your illustrations as Illustrator eps 8 or 10.

Hi!

I use CorelDRAW 12 and it can save only in AI 7 format. Is it OK or I have to upgrade the software?

Thanks

Anything AI 10 and under is perfectly fine.

I have been wondering if there is any advantage to submitting a vector on SS. Why not just export a jpg and submit that instead. Is there any downside to taking that approach instead of worrying about all the rules for vectors?

Thanks.

Here at SS we definitely sell tons more vectors than jpg's. So yes there is an absolute advantage to submitting vectors.

We do also sell some jpg's, however no where near as many as the vectors.

Hope that helps you decide.

Thanks for your reply toots7777. One of the problems I had recently was the image had lots of symbols which do not increase file size in Illustrator but when I converted the file to eps, it was just too large (155mB) to upload so I uploaded it as a jpg. So far it seems to be selling as well as some of my vectors do.

Here's a link to that file:

Thanks again

Hi, and welcome to SS.

No you can't upload CS3 files, you can only upload eps files in either eps8 or eps10. If you have used transparency or opacity masks then upload as eps10, otherwise you can load up eps8.

I suggest you read through the sticky threads in the illustrator forum as they have lots of tips in them to help newbies.

Hope the above helps.

Hi again vaibhavjain

Can you please click on the link below as I have opened up a new thread for others to answer some of your questions. It is better to have a new thread rather than using the current 'sticky' thread.

http://submit.shutterstock.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=93946

I will put a link on the new thread for you which shows you how to save your CS3 files as eps files.

You must place a reply in the new thread in order to get emails through when the thread is updated by others replying to your questions.

Obviously this is an old thread, but I'm hoping someone will read my post -

How can I save a vector as Illustrator 8 or 10 when all I have is GIMP, Inkscape, and Photoshop CS2. Does the extension actually say ver 8 or 10?

I draw my stuff in Inskcape, then where do I send it to convert to an eps file?

In Photoshop it shows eps files, but I thought it's not possible to use PS because it will rasterize anyways.

Poop! this stuff is so complicated at first....

Hi windseed

I'm not absolutely 100% sure, but I think I've come across this question in past threads before and seen others answer it. I believe you have to have illustrator to save the inkscape files as eps files.

I also believe Gimp is a raster program, and I know for sure PS is a raster program, so no chance of saving them as true eps files.

Could you not try and find someone who is selling a cheap old version of illustrator. There must be somewhere on the net where old versions are selling.
