Yep, its a $1600 toy that should lift about 2 pounds, we'll see, you'll be the first to know, I'll keep you posted of the progress. Those things fly indoor but are made for outdoor, their power is unbelievable but very hard to fly just straight:

that makes sence, the blades quickly change pitch. why cant real life choppers do this?
if your getting that for $1600 I'd say go for it. looks like $$ well spent. I would use my gopro on this and get awesome footage. |

Hey Felix,
He did go for it, the original post was 2 years ago. I was just wondering how he was doing with it since I only see a few aerial videos in his portfolio.

Hey Jake,
Long time and not much happening with the trex 500, I am selling it actually. I used it for this clip with the go pro but nothing extraordinary. Go to 2:22 https://vimeo.com/37091823
I give up on heli, its too hard to fly because you need to practice almost every day and too dangerous. The best now are quad copters or exacopter etc.
cheers,

Not sure with the autopilot option but the basic quadcopter with transmiter is a little over $1000
I'm guessing about $1300 or so with the autopilot.
The 580P+ can carry a couple of pounds. Maybe a small DSLR or a GoPro
Still trying to get that info. |

great, thanks. you all got me into rc hellis. I originally wanted something to mount a gopro on but found it to be to complicated so I just bought a blade 120sr 4ch mini heli. it's awesome. that plus my ipad heli simulator I should be ready to move up to a 400 class in no time. |

all aerial stuff is expansive :(
Here is some new footage from a non expansive Hexacopter with a gopro camera
there is vibrations in low end of motors so there is yellow effect in the footage.

Can say how much are you paying for the mikrokopter. I was talking to a friend that is customizing a mikrokopter specially for aerial video in mind and he told me it will cost more than 4000 Euro just for the parts. Capable of lifting a heavy DSLR for 20 minutes, equipped with GPS etc. , but still seamed a little bit pricey to me. |

mine is roughly around 1000 eruo
running mikrokopter frame and the electrical motors from Mk
but I'm using other electronic then Mikrokopter have, that makes price go down but performance will be more or less the same |

that is awesome.
I just went out and bought a blade 4503d heli with the training gear. it is pretty dangerous if you dont know what your doing. I'm a pretty fast learner so maybe I could get a decent rig for my gopro that will generate stockworthy footage. my local hobby shop has a gas powered 700 class heli for like $1000...maybe one day. |
