Anybody knows if aerial videos are becoming more popular and if there is a niche for it?

You might have more luck with satellite dishes than aerials but you never know in this market.

Fred,
I really believe anything out of the ordinary and mundane shots will sell very well.
If you can do some aerial clips without spending a lot of cash all the better.
But as with anything, the better quality will do well.
IE: video camera mounted on a gyro to cut down vibration, open door shots so as to not get reflections etc.

Yep, its a $1600 toy that should lift about 2 pounds, we'll see, you'll be the first to know, I'll keep you posted of the progress. Those things fly indoor but are made for outdoor, their power is unbelievable but very hard to fly just straight:

Hey great I almost did for a smaller helicopter, those cameras are amazing especialy for ski I think but not for aerial just too small and too much vibration and gelly effect or wabble.
Show us the results, what are you going to use it on?

I've been looking for a video I saw a while back of a guy using a RC helicopter with a 5D. Great looking footage.
I don't think I would have the guts to watch my 5D hit the pavement if I were flying it.

I know, I've seen plenty great potential but badly edited. Its just a matter of pilot skills, wind, luck and editing. I will start flying with a JVC HD first.
Keep you posted,

That is cool. What is the resolution of the camera?
Not as cool as the helicopter but I just received my car mount I ordered from filmtools. Can't wait to get it on the car.

I also bought the triangulation kit to cut down on vibration.

Wow really cool, I can see the potential but still too much money. This is what I am trying to put together. Thanks for links, really interesting.
