i used to breath a sigh of relief when ever i'd get to holland.
of all countries i've been to i was once asked who were the most enlightened people? i had to pause as bali was also an amazing place, i mean the whole country would stop on wednesdays for art projects. but i said the dutch. when asked why, i made a list of positives but it was something i couldn't describe, a look in the eye of those who befriended me and strangers alike, a kindness and intelligence of culture and education. a "knowing" which made the women more attractive. and after a long winter in repressed switzerland, it was a relieving to have a beer while watching a movie. i felt at home. |
