but wasn't for me it was for my 2 year old. He fell off brothers bunk bed and sliced his face open. (he landed on a metal coin safe.) Anyway It's about a 3/4th inch long gash on his upper lip. he got 3 stitches on the outside and several on the inside. It's hard to explain but like taking a piece of paper and just ripping it a bit. that's what his upper lip looked like.It was gaped open about 1/2 inch. ripped back pretty much to the gums. the bleeding was horrid. he did great and they stitched him up very well. I got to watch lol. While I was watching, I am thinking, this would make AWESOME stock shots. How sad is that? His brothers couldn't even tell he had stitches. And he is running around today like nothing happened. It looks like a little scratch now and no bruising. they did a wonderful job at patching him up and he was quite the trooper. I think I cried more than he did lol!! I was worried that the way his lip was flopping about there would be muscle damage or something! but he's just fine. sighhhhh Just another day for me in Paradise rofl!!

Glad he's doing fine. And don't feel bad about thinking of stock opportunities. Probably most of us would have that thought. And some no doubt would've been ready with their tripod & camera! |

Sorry about your little boy. My son had to have a tooth pulled the other day, and I thought the same thing..."darn it! I should've brought my camera and taken some stock shots of the extraction!" Such a loving mother :) |

Last year my (then 14) daughter hit a PARKED Ford SUV while riding her bike.
She split her bottom lip open, requiring a trip to the ER, and 7 stitches, luckily a plastic surgeon was on duty and did the needle work. Her scar has finally faded.
The trip lasted only 2 hours since there wasn't anyone else in the place except for us. |

First laptop troubles and now this?
Maybe 2's a little young to be cavorting around on a bunk bed? We bought a bunk bed four months ago and an orthopedic surgeon friend of ours admonished us severely. He says bunk beds, trampolines, and riding anything with wheels without helmets and elbow/knee pads should be outlawed. I guess I'm guilty of all three. But my 2-year old knows that if he even looks at the bunk bed ladder I'll take away his SpongeBob TV show time. To him, that's serious business. |

Mommy,
it's only the beginning! We've had broken feet, broken toes, gashes just above eyes (both boys, I only have 2 boys), huge bumps on foreheads from running the carpet an not being able to stop in time (bam! right into the wall - picture sliding into home plate), one kid got hit by a car while on his bike (worst feeling ever for a mom) but only ended up with a broken arm (in two places) and a broken finger (and bruises and cuts) On a side note with the hit by a car - paramedics got a kick out of him. Apparently they knew he was going to be alright when he started cracking jokes the minute they got there and all the way to the hospital. Apprently it was funniest ambulance ride they've ever taken.
Split lips, fingers smached in door (home and car), fingers broken from trying to beat each other up.
Oh and when my younger one was in an umbrella stroller (he was about 2 and umbrella strollers are very flimsy) - I was pushing him along a paved pathway in front of my home and bam! - he went face first to the ground still strapped into the stroller. He stopped himself from hitting the ground with his hands - problem was, he had a glass baby bottle in one hand at the time. Several stiches on his index finger!!!...talk about feeling guilty as a parent!
I'm sure your baby is going to be fine...it'll start to itch before long and he'll constantly pick at it.
My heart goes out to you and send you lots of motherly support and hugs. And hugs to the little one too. He sound's like a daredevil - oh my!
And don't feel guilty about wanting to take a picture of the emergency room. I thought the same thing when I'm in difficult circumstances.

So sorry to hear about your baby being hurt - glad he's okay. It does get better as they grow up.
We have raised four kids, and when they were younger we knew every doctor in the emergency room. I spent Christmas night 2005 in the ER with my youngest - 16 at the time - who sliced her hand open with a catfood can lid while taking care of her friend's cats. |

I have three boys myself, and life was always an adventure when they were little. Somehow they seemed to have nine lives though...
They stuck a metal pole into an electrical outlet... no one was even tingled let alone shocked.
They tried to light the gas furnace one morning... nothing blew up
They set a tumbleweed on fire on a windy day (thought they were burning the trash)... no major wildfire started.
I did have one get a helicopter ride to an emergency room once though. He was stung multiple times by a scorpion and reacted pretty badly.
Glad to hear your boy is doing well and welcome to motherhood LOL :) |
