Oki, recently got a new modem on my laptop (wifi), and although its faster than my old connection, its so bloody inconsistent that i cannot for the life of me upload images. I've tried the http (my usual method) and when that didn't work, i tried FTP - (filezilla) also, no bloody luck. Keeps getting disconnected and restarting the download, but without being connected to the server. Any advice as to the best way to do it? HELP ME!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!! :(

Switch to broadband connection.

I have at home LAN with 100Mb/s downstream and 10Mb/s upstream.
My provider is promising to upgrade it to 1Gb/s soon :)

Believe the problem is on the "wireless" side of the setup and not about the ISP itself.

I have wireless connection but whenever i want to upload i have to use the cable because the wireless it too inconsistent

i also think its the wireless side. speed ain't so bad, but here in eastern poland (where i now live), its nothing near the speeds i got in Northern scotland (where i used to live)...

anyway, browser plugin seems to be doing the job at the moment, but my homepage still says images waiting to be submitted, not approved. strange...

Try moving the WiFi router. A foot either way might be enough. You may be trying to get the signal though a radio-hostile environement like earthed metal radiators if you're in another room from the router, and using the signal through walls.

If you have a DECT 'phone and the base station is near the WiFi router, move the base station and router apart. In Europe DECT 'phone spectrum and WiFi spectrum overlap.

Those two things are easy. If these don't work, less easy is to change the channel that the router uses on the air interface. You might be clashing with another wireless router in a nearby property as most people never change the frequncy from the default setting when it comes out of the box and the routers won't frequency-hop when the error rate goes through the roof. You'll need to log on to the Admin user ID on the router and choose an alternative frequency. You can do that over the air, but you'll lose connction for a few seconds when you save the change. You may need to manually tell the laptop to rescan and reconnect. Can also be done with a Cat5 cable plugged directly into the router.

Don't forget to turn on the air side security settings if you haven't already done so.

Paul.

The Git said it all... :D

One other thing, I had exactly the same issue, but solved it accidently when we moved the router for a few days while rebuilding inside the office. I connected the wrong router's aerial to the "misfiring router" and voila... perfect signal.

Apparently my original antenna was busted...somehow...

What I find strange here is that your uploads aren't resuming. I use FlashFXP, but FileZilla should do it too. FTP was my preferred method of uploading when I onl had an unstable 3.5kb/s upload on dial-up.

I can't offer much in suggestion to the wireless that people haven't already mentioned, but I would suggest testing your FileZilla upload on another site besides ShutterStock to see whether you have the settings right for resuming.

Thanks guys, all good advice. will try filezilla on another site, also think it should resumer automatically, but keeps timing out cause the connection gets reset so often. Browser plugin seems to be very stable at the moment though, so really am confused, thinking it might not be the wireless only. Anyway, i'll stick with the plugin for as long as it works :-p
