To become a financial planner...

I have always had an interest in stocks, bonds and investments in general. Im 19 and two years ago began a law degree.

After realizing that life in the legal spotlight just wasnt for me and having enjoyed my commercial law subjects i decided to take 6 months off of uni to have some 'me time' and a think about my studies.

A month or so ago i looked into financial planning and decided to apply at some Australian universities for a bachelor of business majoring in financial planning.

Today... drum roll please.... i was accepted into the royal university of melbourne! And that is the happy ending to my story!

Thought i might lighten up the spirits of the forums :) some topics are waaaaaaay too gloomy.

I think in the future you will need this study. Also be able to do what you like is very importend too.
(your law study comes in handy ,it's not waisted)
Good luck

I hope the industry is better in melbourne than here in UK. Thats what i do and it sucks at the moment. Working harder and peddling faster just to stay still at the moment!!

Good luck.

Congrats!

I would put money on you changing majors again. I graduated with an architecture degree after four changes - and by the time I graduated I already knew I didn't want to work in that field!

Two years after college - and working as a graphic artist - I joined the military... and went to school for engineering management.

At 19 the best path to take is a straight road to your goal that has a lot of turns available for you to change directions if you want.

Good decision letting law go.

Congratulations.

I would recommend reading "Black Swan" by Nassim Taleb to get some perspective on the subject. It's a must read for anyone with "planning" in their job description.
