Dear Submitters,

The following post comes from eBay, the world’s leading online marketplace. Shutterstock recently partnered with eBay and the following message comes to you Shutterstock approved.

Help eBay Expand Its Online Catalog Presence!

eBay is looking for your help on a project to expand their online catalog. They are looking for photographers to take pictures of specific products and brands to help in this effort.

eBay brings together a family of brands that collectively pioneer and connect communities built on commerce, trust, and opportunity.

The details:

Photographers will be given a list of specific products or Brand/Product Lines and asked to take pictures of those products to be used as stock photos in the eBay Online Catalog.

*Distribution Note: These images can be distributed for catalog use because the images are an accurate representation of goods for sale. However, due to trademark issues concerning other commercial uses we recommend you do not distribute the images by other channels. Do not upload these images to your Shutterstock submitter account.

Photographer’s responsibilities:

· Gaining access to the specific product

· Taking the picture according to eBay guidelines

· Uploading the digital product images to a location specified by eBay

Basic eBay Photography Guidelines:

· Product backgrounds are white or light in color and surfaces neutral to reinforce the simplicity and crispness of product-only composition. eBay will handle any post production work on the backgrounds but getting as close to this requirement as possible will be most helpful.

· Most electronic product photos will be taken at a 45 degree angle. There may be different requirements for other types of products, which will be discussed before the project begins.

· Clean and clear lighting

· Leave sufficient clear empty space around the product largest width or height to accommodate post production cropping.

· The size of the online catalog product image will be 500 pixels (maximum height or width), so photo’s taken should be no larger than 1000 pixels, to accommodate this resizing.

Some of the brands that eBay will request images for include:

· Rolex

· JVC

· Bose Speakers

· Rolex Watches

· Sony Camcorders

· Shure Microphones

· Dyson vacuums

Payment:

Payment will be made on a per image basis and negotiated before project start-up (anywhere from $1-$5 per image). Only one image of each product will be accepted. eBay will submit payment directly to the photographer; shutterstock will not handle payment.

Interested?

To be considered for participation in this project, please send an email with your name, contact phone, and information regarding any areas of specialty to missingimages@ebay.com. A representative from eBay will respond to you within 24 hours.

Why is the email address at google, and not ebay or shutterstock? This seems like a scam of some kind to me, something about this doesn't seem quite right...

Good point. I mentioned this to our liaison at eBay, and they are going to create an @ebay address for this purpose. Once they pass it along I will update the initial post.

Thanks tuvas. Rest assured there is no foul play at hand.
