If you can get them to sign, sure... :-)
Actually, if you can get one to sign, I reckon the shots of that would be worth way, way more to the syndicated press... think of the headline - Sydney Opera House comes to life and signs model release... :-)
You only need a model release for a recognisable human - e.g., someone likely to sue if their image is used without permission - if you do have authorisation from the management of the Sydney Opera House to take photographs of the site, and to resell those images as stock, I reckon Jon would be very interested in hearing from you - otherwise, for the buildings you can't shoot without permission, submit them as editorial, that covers the copyright issue...

You might not sue yourself - but you could manage to get yourself in the ironically bizarre situation of suing the company using your image becasue you didn't give them permission to do so - after all, let's say they post your self portrait, and they use you as the posterboy for an ad campaign for a new cure for aids - or an article showing how the criminally insane should be kept locked up... if you've signed a model release, you can't jump up and down later...

You actually need model release for the Eiffel Tower, shot during the night time. Daytime's OK because they don't show their patented/copyrighted light show. I think other buildings might require model release as well, best to do some research around. |
