Please feel free to add yours!

1) Add file size with clip information
2) Add equipment with which clip is shot

3. Enable Resume on SS servers, at least for footage.

4) Allow editing of clip details (not of clip itself, ofcourse)

5) Place the title of the clip in the submitter's control panel (pending, accepted, rejected), and in the actual showcase pages so that the customer may search by keyword in the title, and so that we may keep our clips straight in our accounting.

6.) Tripods should be mandatory!

I am absolutely amazed at some of the footage I have seen accepted. Obviously the filmer had no tripod, and it's very shakey. To me, it seems like this would be of little or no commercial value.

I agree, use a tripod!
Of course there will be a few obvious exceptions.

Just a note, I do not believe http upload will work with the size files that we are attempting to submit -- i.e. your upload problems will be much worse with http. I use WS_FTP with a 3MB DSL connection and I never have any problems. (Knock Wood.)

1. Also, allow the submitter to enter the key frame number to be used as the thumbnail. I see these footages with blank or odd looking first frames.

2. Have some comments from real Buyers on what they are looking for. What they are willing to pay $99 for.

I second that, FTP is really the only choice for huge files. HTTP will be much worse.

Check with your ISP and try a different FTP tool.

Give us some idea (% stats perhaps)of what kinds of formats the buyers are purchasing the most. If we can use preferred formats, (such as Quicktime .MOV, mpg, etc) then that should result in better quality (one less conversion needed) and would make things easier for the SS staff (again, one less conversion needed).

Ha ha, I guess they would need to sell some clips in order to tell us that! (Sorry, that was rude!) That suggestion could be implemented later on down the line, probably. I LOVE the idea, though! Maybe SS can give us some guidelines for format before we all waste oodles of time formatting, compressing and uploading!

I still have a dialup connection at home (problems with the phone line), at work the FTP is now forbidden. So propably I'll upload only images, unless I fixed my home phone problems.

They did that! Awesome, gnpdesign, you were the first one to have your suggestion implemented. LOL

Yes, absolutely, if you're going to submit video clips to micro-footage houses (is there such a word?) then you will need DSL at the very least, cable would be better!

Good luck!
