Ok, I know the pros shun Quantaray (lower end Sigma), but what is the general consensus on their lenses? I am looking at the 70-300mm because it runs around $170. Opinions good and bad are welcome. |

I don't think you'd pay much more for a Canon EF 75-300mm MKIII, and it'll be a much better lens - in some cases, you do get what you pay for, and the quantaray's live up to that adage - they're a cheap lens, if that's all you can afford - I guess the thing is, if you were paying for photographs, would you be happy to sacrifice the quality? A quantaray can make happy snaps for the average user - it's still better than some of the knockoff's out there, and a lot better than a $50 digital compact with no optical zoom - but they're not the best lenses around...
Cheers,
