Hello there, I guess this is my first post on the forums.

I've spent there a lot of hours reading these forums and learning from others. Photography is a hobby for me, not a source of income. From time to time I upload some of my photos in hope somebody will find them useful.

I don't have many downloads, so most of the times I check my stats page there are no changes. As I'm a programmer, I created a simple Firefox extension that shows the latest download statistics in the status bar of my browser:

I guess there are at least some stats maniacs like me that always want to be up to date on their current Shutterstock downloads statistics and would like to use an extension like this. I've got a gift for you:

http://webtech.lv/firefox/extensions/shutterstockbar/ [link has changed]

The extension has been updated to work with the Firefox 2.0

The extension just checks the Shutterstock stats page once in 15 minutes (it's not worth to check more often, as shutterstock itself updates the stats page once in every 15 minutes).
In order for the extension to work, you should be logged in Shutterstock. As of me - I'm always logged in Shutterstock, so whenever I open my browser, I see the latest stats.

I've tested this extension on Firefox 1.5 only, so if there are any problems with it, feel free to contact me. This is my first Firefox extension ever, so there might be some glitches (don't hit me too hard for them).

As you might imagine I would like to hear your opinion about this extension, whether you think it's useful (and most importantly, whether it works for you) or maybe it should be done a bit different way.

Best wishes to everybody and thanks in advance to those trying it out!

P.S I would like to hear the opinions of Shutterstock crew as well.

Thanks. I don't know that I'd call it useful exactly, but it's much appreciated.

Thank you ingus. It is tougher to say easy than it was to dl and install your plug-in. You should check out pbase, they could use a handy dev like yourself.

OK, this is pretty cool! I am fairly addicted to checking the number of downloads I have whenever I'm on the computer so this is pretty neat to not have to change pages.

Thank you for sharing this with us!

Wow! This sounds really cool and I wanna try it. But I'm using Internet Explorer and don't wanna download Firefox just to check downloads as of right now. Has anyone used the extension with IE (if it's even possible)?

Unfortunately it's not possible, then you have to find a developer that uses IE daily :)
