I am in need of a small camera (point and shoot style) that I can load CHDK on (which limits it to Canon) and has a low noise profile or at least handles it well.

I spent the week in Chicago with the kids and found I didn't really like carrying the d700 around all week. But I didn't want to miss the one of the a kind kid shots and stock shots.

Any idea?

Olympus E-P1? It's not Canon, but size does matter, at least for sensors ;) You also might not need CHDK at all at 4/3 sensor size.

Canon S90.

1/1.7" sensor with a more reasonable 10 megapixels (whereas everyone else in the market would have put at 14 MP or more).

F2.0 at wide angle.

28mm at wide angle.

Pocketable.

G9 was good, but now that the G10 is available, i'd go wit it.

I've used both, and in my opinion the G10 definitely hold details better at 100%.
